At the weekend, as it stands we have 4 squads in action

On Saturday the 1st and 2nd XV are on the road to Cumnock and Strathendrick respectively while on Sunday the U14 Girls are off to Dalziel while the Annan Warriors travel to face Oban Lorne Ladies

1ST XV ON AWAY TO CUMNOCK ON SATURDAY

STOP PRESS: The lads go down 55-19. Match Report Now Online

After last weeks defeat to Stewartry the Annan 1st XV face another tough match as they travel to promotion contenders Cumnock.

The teams have met 6 times at a 1st XV level since the first meeting back in 1992. Was 23 years until the next meeting though.

Annan do have a decent record against the lads from East Ayrshire with 5 wins from their 6 previous meetings but their last match in 2019 was at Cumnock, were the home side secured their first win with a 57-11 scoreline!

Looking over the last few seasons, Annan do seem to start the season well but then have a mid season slump before consolidating their place in West 1 for another season. Its looking like this is happening again but hopefully the mid season slump was v Stewartry and things can only get better!

Head Coach Gordon Carmichael has now had to pick 32 different players for the 1st XV this season due to injuries and player unavailability which is not helping the cause but it’s hoped that things may settle down.

Players to meet at Violetbank at 12pm for the 3pm kick off

Starting 1st XV: 1 Ryan Glass (vc), 2 Kieran Warrick 3 Kieron Watret 4 Frazer Hope 5 Neal Coupland 6 Jacob Campbell 7 Ryan Armstrong 8 Callum Bell 9 Aaron Carmichael 10 Josh Whiteside (vc) 11 Ben Conroy 12 Sean Haren 13 Alex Halliday 14 James Kirby 15 Andrew Jancey (c)

1st XV Replacements: 16 Aitken Render 17 Callum Smith 18 Murray Forbes 19 Willie Gray

2ND XV ALSO ON THE ROAD ON SATURDAY

STOP PRESS:  Alas I spoke to soon. Match is OFF. Couple of late drop outs and we don’t have the numbers to travel.

The 2nd XV are also on the road on Saturday as they travel to Strathendrick.

The 2nd XV are currently sitting at the bottom of West Reserve 3 but are one of the few teams to have fulfilled every match so far with the points gained by a large percentage of the other teams due to forfeits rather than on the pitch.

Saturdays match will be the Annan lads 4th away trip in their 5 matches so far this season. The fixtures in West Reserve 3 are a bit unbalanced to say the least but as always the Annan players will be more than happy to get some more rugby under their belts and leave the complaints to the writer of this preview! It does need to be looked at though for future seasons.

Kick off 3pm.

Starting 2nd XV: TBC

2nd XV Replacements: TBC

THE WARRIORS TRAVEL TO OBAN LORNE LADIES

STOP PRESS: The Warriors lose 61-5 in a tough bruising match. Match Report Now Online

The Warriors are travelling up on Saturday for Sunday’s match v Oban Lorne Ladies.

As it stands a squad of 18 are making the trip but with a couple of injury worries things might change slightly.

The Warriors will be wanting to get another away win under their belt after last week’s great win v Bishopton Ladies.

The teams have met on 3 occasions all in 2017 though as the distance between the clubs has curtailed a few fixtures in recent years. For the record the Warriors have a 2 wins to 1 loss record. Their 1 loss was up in Oban: 10-5

Players to meet at Bank St  at 4pm on the Saturday.

Kick off: 1pm on the Sunday

Team From: 1 E Jardine 2 S Taylor 3 M Cother 4 H Paterson 5 M Muir 6 R Parker-Clevett 7 A Cole 8 A Clark (vc) 9 N Barlow (c) 10 L Glendinning (vc) 11 B Carroll 12 H Clark 13 J Clark 14 E McCormick 15 K Morrison 16 M Brogan 17 B Nelson 18 R Taylor

YOUTH TEAMS IN ACTION

STOP PRESS: The U14 Girls are winners once again – outscoring Dalziel by 1 try to win 15-14. Nice one Hornets.

Only the U14 Girls are in action this weekend, as they travel to Dalziel. The U14 Girls are the in form team in the club just now and Coach Billy will be wanting that to continue on Sunday.

Kick off at time of writing is a TBC.

Best of luck to all the teams this weekend.
