RUGBY MATCHES

1ST XV IN SHIELD ACTION

It’s like buses, not one for ages, then two arrive in quick succession as the 1st XV have another home fixture this Saturday at Violetbank.

Carrick are the opponents in his National Shield 2nd round match.

The teams met earlier at the start of the season in a West 1 match, when the visitors came out on top.

Since then Carrick have remained unbeaten and top the West 1 league. The Maybole club are firm favourites for the West 1 league and also for the National Shield.

Annan, after a couple of league wins, lost last week but will be wanting to get back to their winning ways, but know they will have to be 100% for the full 80 to get the win and move one step closer to a potential Murrayfield final. It’s been a while! 2003 to be exact!

Hopefully the rain will ease off during the week and that Violetbank gets a chance to dry out a bit after last Saturday

1.30pm kick-off

2ND XV AWAY ON THE ROAD

The 2nd XV are on the road to Kilmarnock this Saturday in their latest league match,

Unfortunately, the 2nd XV have not managed to get a squad able to travel yet this season due to injuries but it is hoped the numbers can be raised for Saturday.

It’s been a tough start for the lads in a league where all the other clubs 1st XV’s are in the National leagues while Annan are the only regional representatives but every minute that can be played just adds to their rugby experience. The win is coming soon lads!

3pm kick-off

WARRIORS IN DERBY MATCH

The Annan Warriors return to action after a couple of weeks’ break, and it’s a big one, away to Stewartry on Sunday.

It’s the start of the 2nd half of the West 1 season, and the Warriors find themselves at the bottom, knowing they need to win a few more matches if they want to keep playing West 1 rugby next season.

Of the 5 matches left, this match on Sunday will perhaps be the toughest, but the Warriors will no doubt be up to it and will be aiming to bring back as many points as possible, if not the win.

Warriors playing numbers are on the increase, and the coaches have the hard task of picking just 22 for the match.

2pm kick-off

YOUTH TEAMS IN ACTION

On Sunday, 4 youth teams are in action

The U13 Boys are off to Greeock while the U14 Boys are off to Allan Glens. Both will take on the hosts and other teams.

The U18 Girls are with the D&G U18 Girls team as they travel to Stirling U18 Girls for a National Cup clash.

While last but by no means least, the U6-U12 Tigers are back in action after the October break as they travel to Langholm Lions.

Best of luck to all the teams this weekend.
