2nd XV match report – Now Online

2 big matches on Saturday as the 1st XV host Cumnock in a match that if they win will keep them in touch at the top and give them a probable 14-15 point cushion from the bottom.

While the 2nd XV are away to Carrick as they try and remain at the top of the West 2 Reserve league.

For the 1st XV, Cumnock in recent year have been a bit of a bogey side for Annan as the East Ayrshire team have won 5 of the last 6 encounters. But overall the teams have met 10 times in the last 9 years with 5 wins apiece.

Coach Juan will be wanting more of the same after last week’s great win away to East Kilbride.

For the 2nd XV, it’s been the best start the team has had in a number of seasons and with 2 wins from 2 they currently sit at the top of the West 2 reserve table.

They are on the road to Carrick which is always a tough match but after Saturday they will then have 5 home matches in the next 6 fixtures, so a great chance to keep up the momentum for that promotion spot.

The Warriors are at home on Sunday and like the 2nd XV aim to make it 3 wins from 3 and remain at the top of their table.

It may have been 2 wins from 2 but alas the injuries are piling up for the Warriors as they find life in West 2 is tough going as some interesting tackling has put numerous Warriors out for a number of months.

The latest being most capped player Nicole Jancey who unfortunately broke her ankle in the win over Uddingston and is now out until at least the new year.

The Warriors face Cartha Claymores on Sunday, a team that the Warriors have found tough in the past to win against but they did have a great win in their last meeting at the end of last season in the National Shield.

Coach Warrick will be hoping that the team he picks for Sunday manages to a) pick up the win and b) remain injury free for the next match!

KO: 2pm

Annan Warriors squad: 1) Julie Warrick 2) Eilidh Jardine © 3) Megan Cother 4) Rhianna Parker-Clevett 5) Jacky Stitt 6) Roisin Connell 7) Acacia Clash 8) Kayleigh Warrick (vc) 9) Jamie Graham 10) Niamh Ross 11) Amber Pattullo 12) Megan Brogan 13) Joanne Clark 14) Katie Morrison 15) Jane Stewart (vc)

YOUTH SQUADS IN ACTION

STOP PRESS: U16 Girls win big 61-24. The U14 Boys played a development match in the end v Stewartry while the U14 girls matches were cancelled.

Well played all!

Another busy weekend with 3 youth teams in action on Sunday

Big match of the weekend is the U16 Girls as they travel to derby rivals Dumfries in the National League competition.

The U16 Girls have made a great start and have maximum points after the first 3 of the 7 group matches and a win in Sunday will almost ensure a top half finish and onto the next stage of the competition.

For Dumfries, they have lost all 3 of their opening matches and need this win if they are to keep in touch with the leading teams.

Its a derby match though, so form often gets chucked out of the window so the Girls will need to be on the top of their game to get the win. 2pm KO at Park Farm

The U14 Boys and Girls are both at home with the Girls hosting Wigtownshire and Carrick. 11am start

While the U14 Boys will be hosting a couple of teams from around Scotland. Teams and start time a TBC.

Best of luck to all the teams this weekend
