TOUGH MATCH FOR THE 1ST XV

STOP PRESS: The lads go down heavily 85-3 to a Kilmarnock team who recruited well over Summer. The Annan points coming from a Josh Whiteside penalty. Onto the next one lads!

Match report, photos and the match – Now Online

With 2 wins on the trot, confidence in the 1st XV squad is high but on Saturday they travel to undefeated league leaders Kilmarnock.

Kilmarnock look like they going to romp away with the league this season, helped by numerous addition to their squad over the summer months.

For Annan, this will probably be the toughest match of the season as Kilmarnock have swept away all teams they have so far faced but Annan do have a decent record against the East Ayrshire team but the coaches and players know they will have to have a perfect match with few mistakes if they want to come away with some points.

3pm KO

Annan 1st XV squad: 1 Ryan Glass 2 Murray Forbes 3 Kieran Warrick (C) 4 Frazer Hope 5 Callum Smith 6 Ewan Campbell 7 Wallace Alexander 8 Ryan Armstrong 9 Josh Whiteside 10 Fraser McMillan 11 Alex Jones 12 James Kirby 13 Aitken Render 14 Danny Lockerby 15 Aaron Carmichael 16 Kyle McRoberts 17 John Glendining 18 Thomas Martaindale 19 Andrew Jancey 20 Lex Stevenson 21 Eben Le Vin 22 John James Mackay

2ND XV IN DERBY MATCH

STOP PRESS: Alas the match is OFF as the 3 clubs that feed into the Galloway 2nd XV could not raise a team able to travel the short distance to Violetbank.

The 2nd XV are having their best start to a season in many a year with 3 league wins on the trot, 2 of them away from home.

They now have a great chance to extend that winning start as they begin a run of 5 home matches over the next 6 league fixtures.

Saturdays opponents are Galloway. A team comprised of players from Wigtownshire, Stewartry and Newton Stewart.

Galloway have yet to start a match this season due to lack of players but it’s hoped for a derby match they will get the numbers.

For the 2nd XV, they are currently in 1st place and will be aiming to still be there come the end of the 80.

3pm KO

YOUTH SQUADS IN ACTION

STOP PRESS: The U18 Boys lose 57-7 to Ardrossan. The U16 Boys had a great win 51-5 over Wigtownshire while the U16 Girls ran Biggar Blacks close but were pipped 56-39. Well played to all the teams

Another busy weekend with 6 youth squads in action on Saturday and Sunday

Pick of the matches are the undefeated U16 girls who host also undefeated Biggar Blacks on Sunday at Violetbank.

The Hornets have swept aside the 3 teams they have met so far this season but Biggar Blacks represent a huge step up in opposition and like the 1st XV will need to be at 100% for the full 60 to have a shot of the win. 2pm KO.

Also at home the P1-P7 Tigers host squads from Moffat, Stewartry and Wigtownshire. 11am start. While the U16 Boys also host Wigtownshire. TBC KO

On the road, funnily enough to Wigtownshire are the U14 Girls and the U14 Boys. The U14 Girls will take on the hosts and Carrick while the U14 Boys just face the hosts. 2pm KO for the U14 Boys, TBC start for the U14 Girls

And last, but by no means least, on Saturday the U18 Colts are away to Ardrossan for their latest league match. 2pm KO

Best of luck to all the teams this weekend
