1ST XV OFF TO LENZIE

STOP PRESS: The lads go down 22-0. Match Report – Now Online

Its been a tough couple of weeks with the Annan 1st XV losing the last 3 matches after a bright start to the West 1 league season.

The Annan lads will be hoping to stop the rot as they travel to Lenzie for their latest match.

Lenzie, like Annan, have a played 5, won 2 record and sit 1 point and place above Annan in the league.

Both teams need to win this match to kick start their league ambitions otherwise a mid table or worse a relegation battle looms with Kilmarnock finally finding their feet after a poor start

The 1st XV have a decent record over Lenzie with 8 wins to 5 but Lenzie have had the edge over the last couple of season and have a 3 game winning streak so Annan know they will have to on the top of their game to bring 4 or 5 points back to Bank Street.

11.30am meet at Violetbank for the 3pm KO

Starting XV: 1 Ryan Glass 2 Kieron Warrick  3 Ronnie Martin 4 Frazer Hope 5 Keiran Watret 6 Callum Smith 7 Murray Forbes 8 Ryan Hetherington 9 Fraser McMillan 10 Josh Whiteside 11 Alex Jones 12 Andy McCreevy 13 Alex Halliday 14 James Kirby 15 Adam Torbett

Subs: 16 Ewan Campbell 17 Lex Stevenson 18 Eben Le Vin 19 James Morrison

2ND XV AT HOME TO STRATHAVEN

STOP PRESS: It ended 33-0 to Strathaven down at the Everholm. Match Report – Now Online

If all goes well, the 2nd XV have a home league match against Strathaven on Saturday.

Strathaven 2nd XV have made the trip in the last 2 seasons and are one of the few 2nd XV teams who still travel to away matches outwith the central belt.

The 2nd XV have been hard done by with the fixtures in the last couple of seasons and this season is also not the best with 3 away matches after this one. There is of course a run of home matches in the 2nd half of the season, unfortunately this is when teams usually start to find away trips over 20 miles a bit too far!

The 2nd XV are still looking for their first win of the season and if a full squad of players is available then Saturdays match is a great chance for the lads to achieve this.

1pm KO

Starting XV: 1) Sean Armstrong 2) Craig Stefaniuk 3 )Ben Sweeney 4) Gordon Henderson 5) Kyle Rennie 6) Murdo Bruton 7) Tam Thorburn 8) Josh Cairns 9) Simon Dix 10) Jordan Paterson 11) Jack Ogilvie 12) Declan Ferguson 13) Willie Grey 14) John Glendinning 15) Luke Clark

Subs: 16) Dan Burns 17) Josh Vedat, TBC, TBC, TBC

WARRIORS HOST OBAN LORNE LADIES

STOP PRESS: Alas at the moment the Warriors do not have a match as Oban could not find enough players again willing to travel to Annan. Coach Choc is looking out for a replacement match.

On Sunday, the Warriors welcome Oban Lorne Ladies to Violetbank.

Oban Lorne did not make the trip last season but Violetbank clashes between the teams are always great competitive games of rugby.

The Warriors are still looking at their 1st win of the season and despite the 4 defeats so far, the draw with Greenock Ladies showed than when things click, the Warriors can compete with the other teams in this division.

Oban have lost their 3 matches so far this season so on Sunday one team will get their first win, unless its a draw of course!

Should be a great game up at Violetbank.

2pm KO

Starting XV: TBC

Subs: TBC

YOUTH TEAMS IN ACTION

STOP PRESS: Unfortunately the Violetbank is unplayable to only the U14 Girls and P1-P7 Tigers trip to Dumfries Saints is on.

Plenty of action this weekend

On Saturday the U16 Girls have a match against Biggar Girls in their latest league game. It will be a good indiction at how far the team have come against one of the better Girls teams in Scotland. 11am KO up at Violetbank

On Sunday we have the P1-P7 Tigers on the road the short distance to friends Dumfries Saints. With players numbers on the up, it should be a great set of matches for the micro and minis. 10am start.

Also on Sunday, the U14 Girls are also away to Dumfries for the latest Girls rugby festival. Start time TBC

And last but by no means least, the U14 Boys are in the final round of the Aspiring League Group Matches as they host teams from Dumfries, Stewartry and Wigtownshire. Start time 11am

Best of luck to all the teams this weekend.
