1ST XV BACK AT VIOLETBANK
STOP PRESS: The lads go down 19-27. AJ and Willix with the tries. Josh with 3 penalties. Onto the next one lads.
Full Match and Tries – Now Online
After their 2nd defeat in as many weeks, the 1sr XV need to get their season back on track otherwise any chance of challenging for the promotion spot looks unlikely for another season.
On Saturday they welcome Cumnock to Violetbank. There are no easy matches in West 1 this season.
Cumnock are occupying the 3rd spot in the table but like Annan have a played 4 won 2 record but have picked up 3 more bonus points than Annan who are in 7th.
The teams met twice last season when Cumnock won the away match on their artificial pitch while Annan won the home match.
Ardrossan look like the team to beat but are not racking up big wins like you usually see in West 1 when the league leaders start to run away with it, so I feel any of teams could still have a chance if they can start to put a run together.
Player/Coach Juan, who will just be a Coach for a while as he is out injured, will be looking for a reaction to the last 2 losses to get the team back up the West 1 table
3pm KO up at Violetbank
Starting XV: 1 Ryan Glass 2 Sean Haren 3 Kieran Warrick 4 Frazer Hope 5 Callum Smith 6 Ryan Hetherington 7 Willie Gray 8 Callum Bell 9 Fraser McMillan 10 Josh Whiteside 11 James Kirby 12 Alex Halliday 13 Jonny Callaghan 14 Adam Torbett 15 Andrew Jance
Subs: 16 Alex Jones 17 Lex Stevenson 18 Murray Forbes 19 Ryan Armstrong
2ND XV ON THE ROAD
STOP PRESS: The lads lose 62-0 to a strong Allan Glens side. Reduced numbers for the Anann side but they one again showed other 2nd XV teams in the region, you can still travel to games you know!
The 2nd XV are back on the road, the 1st of 4 away trips in the next 5 matches.
One thing re the 2nd XV is that Annan have the players, 37 have played so far in just 3 matches!
So we may not have a settled team but its still great that we can put out a 2nd string week in week out. When you look around the D&G Region we are basically the only club that can still do this.
Not a great thing for rugby in SW Scotland but great that at Annan we have 60+ Senior men to pick from for the 2 team when all are available. Could we get a 3rd XV out for the odd match? #WishfulThinking
Allan Glens lie in 2nd spot in the league so it will be another tough match for the 2nd XV but they will be up for it as usual
3pm kick off
Starting XV: 1 Craig Stefanuick 2 John McKay 3 Ben Sweeney 4 James Morrison 5 Kieron Ritchie 6 Josh Cairns 7 Eben Le Vin
8 Kyle Bell 9 Rory Livesly 10 TBC 11 Jack Ogalvie 12 Murdo Burton 13 Kieran Johnston 14 Luke Clark 15 Ewan Campbell
Subs: TBC
