THIS WEEK AT ANNAN RUGBY

FOR WEEK BEGINNING 5TH SEPTEMBER

As a mark of respect, all domestic rugby matches are postponed this weekend

THIS WEEK AT ANNAN RUGBY

Walking Rugby continues on Monday. See Walking Rugby for more info

Training for all age groups is on all week.

At the weekend we have potentially 8 squads in action if all goes well

On Saturday the 1st XV host Carrick in the league, while the 2nd XV and the U18 Boys are off to Cumnock.

On Sunday we have a host of games at Violetbank with the U14 Boys, U16 Boys, U18 Girls and Warriors all playing while the U14 Girls are off to Wigtownshire

Busy week for Annan Rugby.

1ST XV HOST CARRICK

The 1st XV aim to keep up their great start to the season when they take on Carrick at Violetbank on Saturday.

The teams met just 2 weeks ago in the National Shield, with Annan running out 41-24 winners.

With Annan winning their league opener last week away to East Kilbride, the Annan lads will be wanting to make it 2 from 2 in the league and also against Carrick.

Carrick were beaten heavily by Stewartry last week in their league opener and will no doubt be wanting to get their season back on track.

Should be an interesting matchup and the Annan squad will need to be on the top of their game as despite Carricks poor start, Carrick are a team that should never be underestimated.

Kick off: 3pm

Starting XV: TBC

Replacements: TBC

2ND XV ON THE ROAD TO CUMNOCK

The 2nd XV finally get their season on the go as they travel to Cumnock on Saturday in their league opener.

Its a tough start for the 2nd XV as this is the first of 3 away matches in a row. And the fixtures have not been too kind for Annan as they have only 4 home matches and 7 away before the West Reserve 3 division splits for the remainder of the season. Some teams have the reverse.

There is a chance that the 2nd XV may only play 5 matches at Violetbank and have 10 away matches in their league set up.

Annan are one of the few teams in the region to still have a 2nd XV and the 2nd XV lads will be up for it as always.

Kick off: 3pm

Starting XV: TBC

Replacements: TBC

U18 BOYS JOIN CUMNOCK TO TAKE ON LENZIE

On Saturday a few of our U18 Boys will also be off to Cumnock as they join the East Ayrshire team as they take on Lenzie.

4 Annan U18 Colts  traveled last week and scored 2 of Cumnocks 3 tries and will no doubt wanting to make the big impact again.

Good luck lads.

WARRIORS AT HOME TO HAMILTON

The Warriors will be wanting to get their season back on track after last weeks defeat to Cartha Claymores.

The Warriors host Hamilton on Sunday. The teams have not met before at this level and both will be wanting to impress.

For the Warriors, despite the loss to the Claymores they still have a great chance of being near the promotion places come the end of the season and will be wanting to get 4 or possibility 5 points on Sunday.

The Hamilton Ladies lost their last match 56-0 to Catha, while Annan lost 60-0 so it could be a fairly close match up at Violetbank on Sunday

A big Warrior support would as always be most appreciated.

Players to meet at Violetbank at 12.30pm for the 2pm KO

Starting XV:1 E Jardine, 2 S Taylor, 3 M Cother, 4 H Paterson, 5 M Muir, 6 R Parker-Clevett, 7 A Cole ,8 A Clark (vc), 9 N Barlow (c), 10 L Glendinning (vc), 11 I Cook, 12 M Brogan, 13 L Stevenson, 14 S Leesing, 15 K Morrison

Replacements: 16 B Nelson,17 B Carroll, 18 L McGregor

YOUTH TEAMS IN ACTION

On Sunday, 4 youth teams are hopefully in action.

The U14 Girls are the only team away as they as they travel to Wigtownshire (11am KO) while the U16 Boys host Wigtownshire/Newton Stewart (1pm KO)

The U18 Girls welcome Biggar Girls to Violetbank (11am KO) while the U14 Boys host Greenock (12pm KO)

Best of luck to all the teams this weekend.
