The 1st XV play their 2nd last home match of the season on Saturday as they welcome Cambuslang to Violetbank

The other matches left to play are Carrick (away) and then Kilmarnock (home) on the 14th May. The 2 matches against most likely relegated Irvine will not be played.

As the season draws to a close, the coaches will be wanting to finally get a settled team for the remaining 3 matches. For the record 40 players have played so far this season for the 1st XV!

Saturdays opponents Cambuslang, like Annan, have been having a tough old season in the league but have found some form in their last 7 matches with 4 wins and have gotten themselves out of the relegation positions. Its looking like it will be Irvine and Strathendrick (if there is a 2nd relegation spot) going down to West 2 next season.

Annan and Cambuslang have met 9 times at Violetbank over the years with Annan coming out on top in 7 of the 9 meetings. Overall the teams have met 20 times with Annan winning 13 times, Cambuslang 5 and 2 draws.

The teams met earlier in the season at Cambuslang with Annan coming away with the points in a 26-18 victory.

Saturday’s match is most likely going to be another close match, with Cambuslang hoping to win at Violetbank for the first time in 19 years. For the Annan lads, they will be wanting to improve on their recent poor performances and end the 2021/22 season with a run of wins.

A big Annan support will as always be most appreciated by the team.
