1ST XV IN LAST AWAY LEAGUE MATCH OF THE SEASON
STOP PRESS: Alas another heavy defeat as the lads go down 55-0. Relegation is looking a lot more likely with just 2 matches to go.
After last weeks defeat to Strathendrick, the 1st XV are now looking very precarious on the edge of relegation trouble.
The black and amber are away to East Kilbride this Saturday then at home to Irvine and East Kilbride on the 14th and 21st March respectively.
Annan need to pick up a win or 2 from these matches to perhaps be safe from West 2 rugby next season. It is not known (as is usual for these leagues) if 1, 2 or even 3 teams could be relegated to West 2 come season end.
The trip to South Lanarkshire to take on East Kilbride will not be easy. Annan do not have a great record at Torrance House and East Kilbride are still technically in the promotion mix, despite only playing 9 matches. If East Kilbride win all their remaining matches then the Championship could be theirs.
For Annan, any kind of win or at at worst a bonus point or 2 is required to put a bit more breathing space between them and the bottom 3. After this week, next weeks home match v 3rd bottom Irvine will also be just as crucial.
Players to meet at Bank Street at 12pm for the 3pm KO.
Transport: Cars
Starting 1st XV team from: R Glass (Capt), K Warrick, R Hetherington, J Crombie, N Coupland, D Nordon, C Bell, T Sloan, R Armstrong, S Haren, A Carmichael, J Bigham, J Whiteside, D Wyllie, H Houdley, A Halliday, D Ferguson, J Kirby
2ND XV ALSO ON THE ROAD
STOP PRESS: The 2nd XV go down 25-7. Annan try scorer the mighty Gav Lynch
The 2nd XV are also on the road on Saturday as they are off to Dalziel to take on the Dalziel Dazzliers.
Fingers crossed that the weather will be kind as since the 7th December the 2nd XV have managed to play just one match thanks to the weather and lack of opposition players. Winter rugby, you have to love it!
The Twos are more or less out of the Championship race but with 5 matches to go, a decent run could see the 2nd XV with a top 3 finish.
As always the mighty Twos are on the lookout for new and available players for Saturday. Drop 2nd XV Team manager Gavin Lynch a message or on 07554 494262 if you are available.
