END OF WEEKEND SUMMARY.
18 Jan, 2020
SATURDAY UPDATE: THE 1ST LOSE ON THE ROAD
The 1st XV travelled to promotion chasing Garnock knowing that returning with any kind of points would be a huge bonus in trying to stay out of the bottom 2 places come season end and potential relegation.
However, it was not to be. To keep it brief Garnock came away with the points after soundly beating the lads 96 v 7. The Annan points coming from a Michael Thompson try and a James Bigham conversion in the first half.
Annan chances were not helped with AJ going off in the first half with a concussion but at half time Annan were 45-7 down and it was a case of just seeing out the 80 and try and not lose any more players! It ended 96-7.
This is what is described as a bad day at the office as the West 1 promotion and relegation races heat up!
With matches running out, Annan need to pick up some wins and fast. 3 of the matches left are against fellow strugglers Cambuslang (H), Strathendrick (A) and Irvine (H) while 2 are against promotion chasing East Kilbride.
The 1st XV now have a huge match next week as they host Cambuslang, a match Annan really have to win if they want to increase their chance of playing West 1 rugby next season.
A big Annan support as always appreciated to help spur the lads. 2pm KO at Violetbank.

And from Hornets Coach Billy Henderson
“Great to see 70+ girls at Violetbank today playing or training.
Many thanks to Nicole and Abbey who helped us out today which we are very grateful for.
Lots of games have been organised for U13-U14-U16-U18 Girls in the coming weeks/months – Some days at multiple venues.
However we could do with more help in the next few months to give the girls the chance to fulfill their potential and hopefully use the Hornets as a stepping stone to the next level.
Contact me – Billy Henderson (billy.henderson@talktalk.net / 07885 630703) – if you can help in anyway. Thanks”
While the Warriors beat Wigtownshire Ladies 65-12 in a great pre-season friendly match down at the Everholm. The Warriors scored 11 tries to 2.
