1ST XV HOST EAST KILBRIDE AT VIOLETBANK

STOP PRESS: All matches are OFF as the cold snap put paid to the majority of rugby across Scotland

After a 4 week xmas break the 1st XV are back in action on Saturday and are being first footed by East Kilbride.

The teams have met twice this season in the league and shield with both teams having 1 win. Both at the other teams ground.

With Kilmarnock and Lenzie the only 2 realistic teams in the hunt for the 1 promotion spot, the remaining 8 teams in the league will be battling to pick up the required points to ensure West 1 rugby next season.

Based on past seasons, 34 points is “usually” enough to avoid the bottom two places and potential relegation to West 2.

With Annan already on 31 points a win on Saturday would put them above the safety line but nothing is certain in this league.

Outwith the top 2, the other 8 teams on their day can beat each other so it will probably be another couple of matches before we can say for certain who looks safe from relegation.

Should be a great match

2pm KO

1st XV Squad: TBC
