U16 GIRLS IN NATIONAL SHIELD FINAL
STOP PRESS: U16 Girls – National Shield Champions = 38-34. Amazing stuff! Match Report – Now Online
Big match of the weekend/season/year is on Sunday as the U16 Girls travel to Murrayfield to take on Dumfries Girls in the final of the U16 Girls National Shield.
The young U16 Girls team have had a great season so far and on Sunday they hope to be the 3rd Annan team to win at Murrayfield (1st XV in 2003 and U15 Girls in 2016).
They face local friends and rivals Dumfries on Back Pitch 1 at Murrayfield (11.30am KO) and the girls and coaches will be giving their all to bringing the Shield back to Annan.
Regardless of the result, this U16 Girls squad has a bright future with the majority of the team young enough to take part in next years U16 Girls season.
Best of luck Hornets from all at Annan Rugby

1ST XV ON THE ROAD TO CUMNOCK
STOP PRESS: The 1st XV score 5 tries and pick up a bonus point, only problem Cumnock scored 8. Final Score 54-32
Match Report and Photos – Now Online
The 1st XV end their 2023 year with a tricky away trip to Cumnock.
With the West 1 season tight between 2nd and 10th, any points the team can gain from the match could prove crucial at season end.
Will be a tough match with the 1st XV losing heavily in the last 2 trips to Cumnocks artifical pitch.
Cumnock also won the Violetbank encounter earlier on in the season but Coach Juan will be hoping he will have a fully fit squad to pick from and getting something from the match
2pm KO
1st XV starting team: Warrick, Haren, Graham, Hope, Watret, Bell, Armstrong, Hetherington, Latimer, Whiteside, Kirby, McGreevy, Halliday, Glendinning, Jancey
1st XV subs: Forbes, Le Vin, Taylor, Render
2ND XV ALSO ON THE ROAD
STOP PRESS: GU Hill can not raise a team. Points awarded to Annan
The 2nd XV are also away and are on the road to Glasgow to take on GU Hills.
A combination of Glasgow University and Hillhead players – the lads know they are also in for a tough match.
With the 2nd XV having now played far more away game than home (as is tradition) it is still hoped a full squad will be willing once again to take to the road for their last game of 2023.
2pm KO
YOUTH TEAMS IN ACTION
With the U16 Girls on Sunday – they are also joined with the U14 Boys who are taking on Carlisle on Friday at Violetbank (or Robgill Tower Horse Arena) Both place and KO time TBC
While on Sunday, the U16 Boys have the last match of 2023 as they host Stewartry U16 Boys. TBC KO
Best of luck to all the teams this weekend.
