1ST XV IN BIG MATCH V DALZIEL

STOP PRESS: Unfortunately the 1st XV put in by far the poorest performance of the season and are well beaten 54-0

Big match of the weekend is the 1st XV’s trip to Dalziel.

Dalziel are currently bottom of the West 1 league, 6 points behind Annan but with a game in hand

A win for Annan will put a small bit of breathing space between them and the relegation spots.

A win for Dalziel will drag Annan further down into the relegation mire.

Annan won the home match earlier in the season and are coming off the back of 2 wins on the bounce.

The match is even more important as next week the team travel to runaway leaders Ardrossan where points might be a bit harder to come by.

Dalziel at home though are always a tough team to beat although Annan did win the last times the teams meet at Dalziel Park in 2018. For a lot of the team this will be their match at Dalziel

Big match, but Coach Juan will be getting the lads up for it

2pm KO

1st XV starting team: 1 Ryan Glass 2 Callum Bell 3 Callum Taylor 4 Frazer Hope 5 James Morrison 6 Callum Smith 7 Ryan Hetherington 8 Sean Haren 9 Fraser McMillan 10 Josh Whiteside 11 James Kirby 12 Andy McGreevy 13 Alex Halliday 14 John Glendinning 15 Adam Torbett

1st XV subs: 16 Willie Gray 17 Murray Forbes 18 Keiran Johnstone 19 Lex Stevenson

2ND XV HOST STRATHENDRICK

STOP PRESS: Alas a 2nd XV home match is OFF once again as the opposition can not raise a team to travel. Apologies lads.

The 2nd XV host Strathendrick on Saturday up at Violetbank.

Its the 8th match of the 16 match league season and the second string are still looking for their first win.

For the last couple of seasons, the fixtures have not been too kind to the lads and this season has been no exception with only 2 home matches and 5 away matches so far but that will all change as we enter the 2nd half of the season as including Saturdays match the 2nd XV have 6 home matches and 3 away to go

2nd XV teams and players numbers are down all over Scotland but it is hoped the SRU will finally get their finger out and support the teams at this level in the coming seasons. One can dream!

Good luck lads though for that possible first win.

2pm KO

WARRIORS HOST LEAGUE FAVOURITES AYR

STOP PRESS: The match ended on the 70th minutes due to a serious injury to Becki. It ended 29-5 to Ayr. Quick recovery Becki.

Full match, report and photos – Now Online

Another big match at Violetbank as the Warriors face one of the two top teams in West 1 – Ayr Ladies

Ayr currently lie in 2nd sport behind Biggar but with a game in hand so will be wanting that 5 point win to potentially regain the top spot. Both are really Premiership teams held back in the West 1 due to the restrictive size of the top league.

For the Warriors, anything they can get from this match will be a bonus as they wrestle with Oban to try and avoid the bottom spot and relegation to West 2

After last week’s match v Greenock Wanderers was abandoned after just 3 minutes (Speedy recovery Shirley) the Warriors have this match and 2 further matches v Greenock and the aforementioned Oban. 2 matches the Warriors could get the win from so still all to play for.

For Ayr a return to the Premiership is still on the cards for them but can not afford to drop any points.

Kick off 2pm

Starting XV: 1) Becki Nelson 2) Rhianna Parker-Clevett © 3) Megan Cother 4) Tammy Allinson 5) Nicole Mullen 6) Ashley Clark 7) Erin Ewing 8) Kayleigh Warrick 9) Niamh Ross 10) Lexie Glendinning 11) Eilidh Henderson 12) Hannah Paterson 13) Joanne Clark 14) Emilia Szelag 15) Jane Stewart

Subs: 16) Acacia Clash 17) Stephanie McCracken 18) Jacquie Stitt 19) Ashley Cole 20) Julie Warrick 21) Megan Brogan

YOUTH TEAMS IN ACTION

5 youth squads in action this weekend if all goes well.

All on Sunday and the U16 Boys are off to Moffat for a friendly/derby match. 2pm KO. The U14 Girls are away to Marr for the last of the Girls Rugby Festivals. TBC start. While the U14 Boys hope to keep up their great run as they travel to Hamilton to take on the hosts, Moffat and Strathaven. 2pm Start

The U18 Girls join their teammates from the other clubs in D&G and are off to Dalziel. TBC start

While last and but not least the mighty P1-P7 Tigers are off to Stewartry Sharks to take on the host and others. 10.30am meet for a 11am start.

Best of luck to all the teams this weekend.
