1ST XV AWAY TO CARRICK
STOP PRESS: The 1st XV go down 31-25. Match report – Now Online
This Saturday the 1st XV travel to South Ayrshire to play Carrick for the 3rd time this season.
The team met just last Saturday at Violetbank when Annan came out on top 34-7 and met earlier on in the season, again at Violetbank, in the National Shield which Annan also won.
Will it be 3rd time lucky for the Carrick lads or will Annan do the cleansweep?
It will be a tough match at Carricks ground as Annan do not have a great record there. The last away match was in April when Carrick ran out convincing winners after Annan had done the same to Carrick earlier in the season.
If Annan win and get a win the following Saturday at home to Cambuslang then the lads will be looking to start 2023 with a top 5 finish in mind.
Should be a great game of rugby and the 1st XV will need to be on top form to try and bring home the 4 or 5 points to Annan.
Kick off 2pm at The Glebe
Starting XV: 1 Ryan Glass, 2 Murray Forbes,3 Kieron Watret, 4 Frazer Hope, 5 Craig Bell, 6 Callum Bell, 7 Callum Smith, 8 Callum Taylor, 9 Fraser McMillan,
10 Josh Whiteside, 11 James Kirby, 12 Alex Halliday, 13 Aaron Carmichael, 14 Max Thorburn, 15 Andrew Jancey (capt)
Subs: 16 Ben Conroy, 17 Alex Jones, 18 Ewan Campbell, 19 Sean Haren
2ND XV ALSO AWAY TO CARRICK
STOP PRESS: The 2nd XV also lose 7-5. Match report – Now Online
Its often quoted “In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes”, for the 2nd XV this season the quote should be read as “In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death, taxes and Annan 2nd XV playing away from home”
The Mighty Twos travel to Carrick with their 1st XV counterparts as they take on the South Ayrshire club in their latest West 3 Reserve league match.
Despite their defeat to Galloway last week, the 2nd XV are in 5th spot in the league, with Carrick in 6th. A top 5 finish is where Annan want to be before the league splits for the 2nd half of the season and a win on Saturday would go a long way to make that happen.
For the record this will be the 2nd XV’s 6th away match of the season. If all goes well then their 2nd home league match of the season will be the following Saturday as they take on undefeated Kilmarnock 2nd XV. No one said rugby was going to be easy.
Kick off 2pm at The Glebe
Starting XV: 1 Dan Burns. 2 John James MacKay .3 Adam McMinn, 4 Liam Boyd, 5 Bradley James, 9 Finn McCartney, 10 Scott Muir, 12 Rory Livesey, 13 Kieran Johnston, 14 John Glendinning
Subs: 16. Alan Lee
WARRIORS AT HOME TO GREENOCK WANDERERS LADIES

Match report, full match highlights and Nicole’s Try – Now Online
On Sunday the Warriors have their last home league match of the 2022/23 season as they welcome Greenock Wanderers Ladies to Violetbank.
The teams met earlier on in the season when the Greenock Ladies ran out convincing winners but buoyed after their great victory over Hamilton Ladies a few weeks ago, the Warriors will be hoping to take something from this match.
The teams have met 3 times at Violetbank over the years but the Warriors have yet to taste a victory so they will be hoping on Sunday its 4th time lucky.
Should be a cracking match and your support up at Violetbank. if you can make it on Sunday, would be appreciated by all the players as always
For the record, if Vice Captain Ashley Clark takes to the field on Sunday it will be her 50th Warriors appearance in competitive matches (League and Cup). Congratulations Ashley. Top effort.
