STOP PRESS: The 1st XV lose 41-0

The 1st XV welcome Garnock to Violetbank on Saturday for their latest West Division 1 match.

Annan are having a fairly mixed season with just 2 wins from the 7 league matches so far this season however with 11 matches remaining, 7 are at Violetbank and at home the 1st XV have a decent record over the years.

Saying that, Garnock are one of the few teams who have a winning % over Annan at Violetbank – with 6 wins from 9 matches.

The teams last met at Violetbank back in October 2021 with Garnock running out 25-15 winners.

Garnock blew the West 1 title race wide open a couple of weeks ago when they inflicted a convincing defeat on previously unbeaten Stewartry and will be wanting to continue their charge for the title against Annan.

For Annan a top half finish is still the aim and to build momentum for next season.

Kick off: 2pm

1st XV starting team: 1 Ryan Glass, 2 Murray Forbes, 3 Kieran Warrick, 4 Dan Robson, 5 Neal Coupland, 6 Willie Grey, 7 Frazer Hope, 8 Jacob Campbell, 9 Aaron Carmichael, 10 Josh Whiteside, 11 James Kirby, 12 Sean Haren, 13 Alex Halliday, 14 Max Thorburn, 15 Andrew Jancey (capt)

1st XV subs: 16 Callum Bell, 17 Ben Conroy, 18 Callum Smith, 19 Murdo Bruton

STOP PRESS: To the shock of no-one, Hillhead could not raise a team to travel to Annan. A friendly away to Livingston has been arranged.

Final Score: Livingston 47 v Annan/Livingston 7.

The 2nd XV lads will hopefully host Hillhead Jordanhill 3rd XV on Saturday

Unfortunately Hillhead have only managed to raise a team for 1 match this season so it’s fingers crossed they can raise a team willing to travel to Violetbank.

The 2nd XV will welcome a home match after only having 1 match so far at Violetbank and 4 on the road. The 2nd XV numbers are on the up thanks to Coach Logan Johnstone but lack of matches as always at this level is not helping the cause.

As with the 1st XV, the kick off is at the earlier time of 2pm
