The 2nd XV will start their 2022 rugby year on Saturday with a home tie v Strathaven

The teams met earlier in the season when the Strathaven team ran out convincing winners.

On Saturday the 2nd XV will be wanting to put this bad result to rest as a win for Annan could move the team into 4th spot in the league.

It will be a tough game against the league leaders but it’s hoped that Annan can put out a strong team as players come back from injury/unavailability

Kick Off: 2pm

Starting XV: Nicholas Graham, Murray Forbes, Douglas King, Craig Bell, Coll Irving, Ewan Campbell, Callum Smith, Callum Taylor, Aaron Carmichael, Josh Whiteside, Elliot Haley, Alexander Jones, Finley McCartney, Ben Conroy (Captain) & Duncan Smith

Subs: Aidan Craik, William Gray, Jack Ogilvie, John Mackay, Mark Walker-Jones, Daniel Lockerby, Thomas Martindale.

WARRIORS WELCOME AYR LADIES TO VIOLETBANK

STOP PRESS: Top performance from the Warriors as they ran in 7 tries to Ayrs 4 to win 41-24.

Correy Clark, Jane Stewart (x5) and Megan Muir with the Warriors tries. Mal with 3 conversions

The Warriors now leapfrog Ayr as a result and move into 5th spot in National 1

The Annan Warriors host to Ayr Ladies on Sunday in their latest National Division 1 match.

The Warriors have not had a match since the 12th December so will be raring to go to start 2022 off with a  potential relegation clash with the ladies from Ayr.

Ayr are currently sitting in 5th spot, 1 place and 3 points ahead of the Warriors. The bottom two places are filled by Broughton Ladies and Kelso Ladies. With games running out, a win for either team would probably make them safe from relegation and get them another season in National 1.

The Warriors and Ayr Ladies have never met before so an intriguing encounter at Violetbank as the teams meet for the first time.

Go well Warriors.

Kick off: 2pm

Starting XV: TBC

Subs: TBC

YOUTH TEAMS IN ACTION ON SUNDAY

STOP PRESS: Unfortunately only the P1-P7 Tigers played on Sunday – but a great time was had by all.

6 youth squads in action on Sunday, 3 of them at Violetbank.

The 3 P1-P7 Tiger squads get their first matches of 2022 when they travel the short distance to Dumfries Saints. 10am meet for a 10.30am start.

At Violetbank the U14 and U16 Girls entertain Netherhall Girls. 11.30am kick offs while at 1pm, the U15 Boys start their Cup journey hosting West of Scotland U15 Boys.

Best of luck to all the players and teams this weekend.
