LAST WEEKEND AT ANNAN RUGBY

FOR SATURDAY 9TH AND SUNDAY 10TH OCTOBER 2021 (PLUS WEDNESDAY 6TH)

QUIETER WEEKEND FOR ANNAN RUGBY

After a fairly busy last few weekends, this weekend is a tad quieter but all the Senior Teams should be playing (Covid permitting!) and the P1-P7 Tigers host Stewartry on Sunday.

Also on Wednesday the U17 Hornets take on Dumfries U17 Girls at Violetbank. 7pm KO

U17 HORNETS HOST DUMFRIES

STOP PRESS: The Girls lose 50-34 in a 14 try thriller.

Full match, tries and brief report – now online

On Wednesday, the U17 Girls take centre stage as they welcome Dumfries U17 Girls to Violetbank.

It should be a cracking match of rugby and your support would be most appreciated if you can make it.

Kick Off: 7pm

1ST XV TAKE ON THE LEAGUE LEADERS

STOP PRESS: The 1st XV go down 25 v 15 to league leaders Garnock at Violetbank.

The Annan points coming a Callum Bell try, Josh Whiteside try and 5 points from the boot of James Bigham.

The lads now travel to Kilmarnock next Saturday.

Full match and tries – now online

Big match on Saturday at Violetbank as the 1st XV host current West 1 leaders Garnock

The 1st XV have not played for a couple of weeks but will be raring to go against the current top side in the league.

Garnock have been a bogey team of the 1st XV of late with the Annan lads only managing 3 wins in the last 10 encounters. The last match was back in January 2020 when the Glengarnock club won in, lets just say, a 103 point classic!

The last meeting at Violetbank was almost 2 years ago to the day, again Garnock won that match but only just 21-17 with the last play of the game.

For Annan, a win on Saturday and it would be 3 from 3 in the league so far and it would keep Annan in the mix for the one promotion spot (albeit with still 17 matches to go!)

Should be a great match with both teams scoring plenty of tries of late.

Match kicks off at 3pm and a big Annan support would be most helpful in helping the lads on.

Starting XV: R Glass, C Bell, K Warrick, F Hope, D Robson, M Thompson, L Goldie, S Haren (Vice Captain), A Carmichael, J Bigham, J Whiteside, H Houldey, A Halliday, R Hetherington, A Jancey (Captain)

Subs: O Ferdinand, M Forbes, E Haley, W Gray

Mascots: Lucas McLatchie and Harley Farish

2ND XV ALSO TAKE ON THE LEAGUE LEADERS

STOP PRESS: The 2nd XV go down 74 v 0 away to league leaders Strathaven.

It was always going to be a tough match for the lads against a Strathaven team with more experience than was expected.

Onto the next one lads.

Enjoy your evening and hope to see you at 17 Bank Street later.

It seems to be a weekend of Annan taking on the league leaders as the 2nd XV travel to Strathaven on Saturday in their latest West 3 South Reserve league match.

The teams last met back in January 2020 when Strathaven came out on top 22-10.  Strathaven have a record of played 4, won 4 so far beating 2nd placed East Kilbride last weekend.

The 2nd XV have not had much game time so far this season, but on Saturday they will definitely be up for a spot of rugby at Whiteshawgate Park!

The match is a the first of 4 matches in the league this month, 3 of them away, so if you are available to play in any of the matches, please contact Captain Ben

Good luck to the team.

Kick off: 2pm

Squad: B Conroy (Capt), A Craik, B Sweeney, C Smith, C Bell, C Bell (Snr), C Taylor, D Ferguson, D King, E Le Vin, E Campbell, G Graham, G Forest, J Ogilvie, K Watret, T Thorburn (Legend), T Martindale, Z Lockerbie

WARRIORS TRAVEL TO TAKE ON THE LEAGUE LEADERS!

STOP PRESS: The match has been conceded by the Warriors to Garioch Ladies.

No shock that the Warriors are also taking on the National Division 1 leaders on Sunday as they travel to Garioch Ladies in their latest match.

The Inverurie team have had a great start to the season with a 100% win record after 5 matches. A tougher match the Warriors could have not asked for.

The teams have met 5 times with Annan winning 2 and Garioch 3. They last met in the league back in November 2019 up at Kellands Park when Garioch Ladies ran out 17-10 winners.

The Warriors have been struggling so far this season but have shown that on their day when it clicks, they are a match for any team and will be wanting to take something away from this encounter.

Best of luck to the Warriors on Sunday

Kick off: 2pm

Starting XV: TBA

Subs: TBA

P1-P7 TIGERS HOST STEWARTRY ON SUNDAY

STOP PRESS: A grand day was had by all. Photos from the day now online

The P1-P3 Tigers

The P1-P7 Tigers are at home to Stewartry Sharks on Sunday.

The P1-P7 Tigers and P1-P7 Sharks are of course the “league leaders” in both clubs with both having the best teams and players so its really another clash of the league leaders this weekend!

Players and parents to meet at 10.30am for the 11am start.

Best of luck to all the teams this weekend
