U14 TIGERS OFF TO LANGHOLM ON TUESDAY

STOP PRESS:  Due to the current weather situation, the match has been cancelled.

The U14 Tigers hopefully get the week of to a rugby playing start when they travel the short distance to Langholm on Tuesday for an evening match under the floodlights.

The U14 Tigers got back to winning ways a few weeks ago against Wigton and will want to continue this against the Milntown team. Will be a tough ask though against the team the U14 Tigers lost to, back in December but as always the Tigers will be giving their all.

Parents and players to meet as arranged with the coaches for the 7pm (TBC) kick off.

1ST XV ON THE ROAD ON SATURDAY

STOP PRESS:  Match POSTPONED. The weather. Usual.

The 1st XV are back in action on Saturday as they travel to East Kilbride in their latest West 1 league match.

With just 4 matches left, and still not safe from potential relegation, it’s a match the 1st XV need to take something from.

It will not be easy as East Kilbride are still in with a shout for the West 1 title despite being back in 6th, just 1 place above Annan. The South Lanarkshire team have only played 9 matches though this season (Annan have played 14).

The last time Annan won at Torrance House in the league was back in 2008! The black and amber have won twice in the Shield though since then. Since that last win East Kilbride have won the last 4 Torrance House encounters.

It’s the first time the teams have met this season with the return leg being on the 21st March.

So a big match on Saturday for the Annan 1st XV. Both teams need to get something from the match. For Annan a win would be ideal although any kind of bonus point/s would, at this stage of the season, be almost as good.

Players to meet at Bank Street at 12pm for the 3pm kick off.

Transport: Cars

1st XV starting XV: R Glass, K Warrick, C Bell, N Coupland, D Nordon, T Sloan, B Thomson, S Haren, A Carmichael, J Bigham, J Whiteside, D Wyllie, A Jancey (Capt), A Torbett, J Kirby

1st XV subs: R Hetherington, R Armstrong, M Crombie

2ND XV ALSO ON THE ROAD

STOP PRESS:  Due to the current weather situation, the match has been postponed. The 4th match to be cancelled this week. If only there were months in Scotland that we could use that were not in the middle of Winter. A man can dream. #GrowingTheGame

The 2nd XV are on the road to Ardrossan on Saturday for their latest league West Reserve 3 (South) league match.

After their loss to Strathaven a few weeks ago, the mighty twos are now more or less out of the championship race (barring some Marr and Carrick collapse), but with 5 matches to go, the 2nd XV players will be wanting to end the season on a decent run.

As always the mighty Twos are on the lookout for new and available players for Saturday. Drop 2nd XV Team manager Gavin Lynch a message or on 07554 494262 if you are available.

Players to meet at Bank Street at 11.15am for the 3pm kick off.

Transport: Bus

2nd XV Squad: R Brown, N Graham, F Laurie, B Conroy (Capt), B Sweeney, C Smith, M Duncan, F Hope, T Sharkey, G Williamson, D Ferguson, E Campbell, R Barlow, E Le Vin, I Thorburn (Legend)

WARRIORS AT VIOLETBANK IN THE PLATE

STOP PRESS: Alas Kirkcaldy Ladies are unable to raise a team to travel Annan, therefore the match has been cancelled and awarded to the Warriors 28-0. As a result the Warriors become the 1st team to qualify for an quarter final spot in the National Plate.

It’s a big match for the Warriors who, after their loss to Kelso Ladies, need to get back to winning ways if they want to get out of the group and into the knockout phases.

4 teams from the 5 in the group advance but no team is dominating, so 2 wins or 1 win and a lot of bonus points could be enough but with the Warriors last match being away to Oban, the Warriors will be wanting to secure the points they will probably need on Sunday.

The Warriors and Kirkcaldy Ladies have played once in the past at Violetbank, way back in 2016. The Warriors came out on top that day 12-7.

The teams have met in total 3 times, the Warriors winning 2. The last meeting was back in 2017.

So a big match in Sunday and a big Warriors support, as always, would be most appreciated by the Warriors as they continue on their road to Murrayfield.

Players to meet at Violetbank at 12.30pm for the 2pm kick off

Warriors XV Squad: N Barlow (Capt), N Barnes, M Alexander, J Dalgliesh, E Jardine, R Peacock, M Muir, L Glendinning, L Moffat, C Ritchie, K Warrick, M McGeoch, J Stewart,A Cook, C O’Connell, M Ker, K Taylor, K Barlow.

THE U18 HORNETS PLAYERS OFF TO BIGGAR ON SUNDAY

STOP PRESS:  Due to the current weather situation, the match has been postponed.

The U18 Hornet players are joining up with Biggar and Strathaven Girls to take on Wigtownshire Girls at Biggar on Sunday in the SRU National Cup. 12pm KO

After the last gasp loss to Hillhead/Ayr in their last match the Girls will be wanting to get back to winning ways against the west of Scotland team.

Players to meet as arranged with the coaches.

THE P1-P7 TIGERS OFF TO DUMFRIES

STOP PRESS:  Due to the current weather situation, the match has been postponed. #GrowingTheGame

And finally, the P1-P7 Tigers are now away to Dumfries Saints on Sunday.

Parents and players meet at Park Farm at 10.30am for the 11am start.

Best of luck to all the teams and players this week.
