1ST XV AT HOME TO LENZIE

After last weeks 5 pointer win over Strathendrick, the Annan 1st XV host 3rd placed Lenzie on Saturday

Lenzie came up from West 2 this season and are doing well back in West 1.

More or less safe already from any relegation battles, Lenzie may not end up top of West 1 but are looking good for a top 3 finish come the end of the season.

Annan have played Lenzie 3 times at Violetbank and have a 2 win and 1 loss record. The loss was back in 2015 when the teams last met at Annan. The teams met earlier in the season at Lenzie, when Lenzie ran out 29-11 winners.

The black and amber know they are not safe yet from the relegation battle and as they enter the 2nd half of the West 1 season, every match is crucial if Annan want to be playing West 1 rugby come next season.

Players to meet at Violetbank at 12.45pm for the 2pm kick off.

Annan Firsts Starting XV: R Glass, K Warrick, R Hetherington, N Coupland, M Thompson, B Thomson, C Bell, S Haren, A Jancey (Capt), J Bigham, D Wyllie, H Houdley, A Halliday, L Johnstone, J Whiteside

Annan Firsts Subs:T Sloan, D Nordon, J Kirby, J Park

2ND XV ALSO AT HOME

If all goes well, then the Annan 2nd XV also have a home tie this Saturday against Clydesdale 2nd XV.

The Annan 2nd XV have not had much luck with home matches this season with 4 of the last league 5 matches at Violetbank being postponed or cancelled due to teams not having the players willing to travel to Annan.

Annan met Clydesdale at the start of the season and ran out comfortable winners but since then Clydesdale results have improved significantly and lie in 5th spot, just 2 points behind Annan.

Annan are currently lying in 3rd spot and still have a decent chance of a top 2 or even a top 1 finish. They cant afford to drop any more points though and Saturdays match v Clydesdale will be a tough encounter.

Players to meet at Violetbank at 12.45pm for the 2pm kick off.

Annan Seconds Squad: M Duncan, S Livingstone, N Graham, B Jamieson, D Lockerby, F Hope, D Ferguson, R Brown, D Ferguson, A Reid, B Conroy (Capt), C Smith, R Armstrong, E Campbell, jJ burgess.

WARRIORS ON THE ROAD TO OBAN

STOP PRESS: Alas the Warrior match on Sunday is OFF. The Warriors do not have the numbers due to injuries picked up over the past 2 weeks and unavailable players. Warriors last match of the National 1 season is next Sunday v Broughton Ladies.

The Warriors travel to Oban Ladies on Sunday as the National 1 season enters the final weeks for the Warriors.

The Warriors look like finishing in 6th spot with Glasgow Uni entering the relegation play offs and one spot ahead of Sundays opponents Oban

Oban Ladies have been struggling with player numbers this season which has hampered their season. The home leg was awarded to Annan as Oban Ladies did not have the numbers to travel.

The Warriors will be wanting to end the season on a winning note, with Oban on Sunday and then their last match of the season v 5th spot Broughton in Edinburgh.

The Warriors have not played Oban for a couple of years. The only away clash of the two teams was back in February 2017 when the Oban Ladies came out on top 10-5, so the Warriors will be wanting to avenge this result.

Players to meet at Bank Street on Saturday at 6pm for the 2pm kick off.

Starting Warriors XV from:N Barlow (c),  Ashley Clark, M Alexander, J Dalgliesh, N Barnes, M Muir,  A McWilliam, L Glendinning, K Warrick, M McGeoch, J Stewart, C Barnes, C O’Connell, K Barlow, B Lowery, J McGregor
