SATURDAY NIGHT DISCO

Before all the rugby chat, a reminder that the Halloween Saturday Night Disco is on at 17 Bank Street this Saturday. Doors 9pm. £3.50. Always a great night out!

1ST XV AIM TO BOUNCE BACK

After last weeks last second home loss to Garnock, the Annan 1st XV are on the road to Cambuslang aiming to pick up their second win of the league season.

This is the 1st XV’s tenth trip to the Lanarkshire club since the turn of the century and Annan have a decent record at Coats Park, winning 5 and drawing 1 of the 9 matches played.

Cambuslang, like Annan, have been struggling this season to pick up wins and currently lie at the bottom of West 1, but with just 1 point covering the bottom 4 clubs, a win for either team will keep/take them out of the bottom 2 potential relegation places.

On their day at home Cambuslang can produce the good as was shown a few weeks ago with a big win over Irvine so it’s a big match for the black and amber as away wins are always hard to come by but against fellow strugglers a win is doubly important.

Players to meet at Bank Street at 11.45am for the 3pm KO

Starting Annan 1st XV: R Glass, K Warrick, R Hetherington, M Thompson, D Nordon, T Sloan, C Bell, S Haren, A Jancey (Capt), J Bigham, J Kirby, D Wyllie, A Halliday, J Park, J Whiteside

Annan 1st XV Subs: M Crombie, N Coupland, B Jamieson, B Thomson

ANNAN 2ND XV AT HOME FINALLY!

The 2nd XV, after three away matches on the trot, are finally back at Violetbank on Saturday as they host Strathaven 2nd XV.

After a great start to the season, the mighty twos have failed to recapture that winning form in their last three matches. However the league is still fairly tight and a win on Saturday v 3rd placed Strathaven could put the 2nd XV up into 4th.

And with 2 more home matches in the league coming up in the next few weeks, a win on Saturday could be what the Twos need to start a winning run.

Players to meet at Violetbank at 1.45pm for the 3pm KO

Starting Annan 2nd XV: J Crombie, M Duncan, N Graham, B Sweeney, E Campbell, A Laurie, C Smith, R Armstrong, R Brown, R Barlow, B Conroy (Capt), F Laurie, A Torbett, D Lockerby, A Carmichael.

Annan 2nd XV Subs: I Thorburn, D Ferguson, S Livingstone, A Reid, R Martin.

WARRIORS HOST HOWE QUINS ON SUNDAY

The Warriors are back at Violetbank on Sunday after last weeks loss to Stewartry Sirens as they host Howe Harlequins.

The league has split into 3, with Heriots and Garioch playing for the title, Stewartry, Howe and Broughton just playing, while at the bottom the Warriors, Oban and Glasgow Uni are fighting to avoid the relegation spot.

It will be a tough game for the Warriors as it always is against the Fife side. Howe won the away match earlier in the season but the Warriors do have a winning record at Violetbank winning 2 of the 3 previous home encounters.

A big match then for the Warriors as a win would put Annan 7/ 8 points clear of 2nd bottom Oban Lorne Ladies. Oban take on league leaders Heriots on Sunday, so assuming the match is played (as Oban have had to forfeit 5 of their 9 matches this season) an Oban Ladies win would be a shock.

A big vocal crowd up at Violetbank to help spur the Warriors on, as always, would be most appreciated!

Players to meet at Violetbank at 12.30pm for the 2pm KO

Starting Annan Warriors XV: 1 E Jardine, 2 M Alexander, 3 J Dalgliesh, 4 R Peacock, 5 M Muir, 6 N Barnes, 7 A McWilliam, 8 K Warrick, 9 N Barlow (Capt), 10 M McGeoch, 11 J Stewart, 12 C Barnes, 13 C O’Connell, 14 K Barlow, 15 K Taylor

Annan Warriors XV Subs: 16 L Moffat, 17 C Ritchie, 18 B Lowery, 19 J McGregor

YOUTH PLAYERS IN ACTION ON SUNDAY

7 Youth teams/squads in action on Sunday around Scotland and England.

At Violetbank, the U16 Tigers are hosting Dalziel in the league. Players to meet as arranged with the coaches for the 1pm KO.

On the road, the U13, U15 and U18 Hornets squads are travelling over the border to Netherhall Rugby for a Girls Rugby Festival. Players to meet as arranged with the coaches for the 1pm start.

Please note: The U18 Hornets might be off to Biggar instead, at time of writing, still to be confirmed.

While the 3 P1-P7 Tiger teams are off to Langholm for the latest mini rugby festival. 10.30 meet for a 11am start.

Please note: There is no P1-P7 training on Friday as the Halloween Party at Bank Street is on instead.

Best of luck to all the teams on Saturday and Sunday.
