ANNAN RUGBY – DODDIE 555 CUP RIDE

The Doddie Cup 555 Challenge being a charity cycling event in honour of Doddie Weir, who very sadly succumbed to MND on 26th November last year. The ride was led by Doddie’s former Scotland and British & Irish Lions teammate Rob Wainwright aiming to deliver the match ball for the Doddie Weir Cup, but the ultimate goal is to raise funds for the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, to help find a cure for MND.

Team members Gogs Carmichael, Gary Coupland, Sean Buckley and Derek Reive attended Annan Academy today where they were presented with high energy bars specially developed by the school Nat 5 and Higher health and food technology pupils as part of their end of year assignment.

Team Annan, riding in this years Doddie555 Charity Ride from the Principality Stadium in Cardiff to BTMurrayfield in Edinburgh, are delighted to announce sponsorship and an amazing donation of £15,000 from Atkins Global to add to Team Annan’s fundraising efforts.

ISLE OF COLL DISTILLERY AND TEAM ANNAN

The Annan Rugby Doddie 555 Ride Team are delighted to announce sponsorship and a donation of £10,000 to their fundraising efforts from the Isle of Coll Distillery, with an additional donation of £10 for every 70cl bottle of their Gin and Vodka sold during the period of the ride.

DODDIE CUP 555 BIKE RIDE

On Thursday 9th February, a team from Annan Rugby Club will depart Cardiff’s Principality Stadium as part of the Doddie Cup 555 Challenge. The team will cycle 555 miles - including 26,556 feet of elevation - in the depths of a British winter aiming to reaching Murrayfield in time to watch Scotland play Wales in the Guinness 6 Nations, 2.5 days after they start.
