CONGRATULATIONS ZOE AND NIAMH
Congratulations from all at Annan Rugby to Zoe Mitchell and Niamh Ross who have both been selected to the Scotland U18 Girls Sevens Squad that is heading off to Prague on Thursday for a Rugby Europe tournament that begins on Saturday (15th July)
Girls Coach & DCO Nicole Barlow:
“Zoe and Niamh have worked so hard over the past few years building their rugby development and I am delighted they’ve both been given this amazing opportunity that they won’t forget.
Both girls are always passionate, committed and determined to be the best players they can be and I wish them both luck in their upcoming games representing the country 🏴”
Girls Coach Neil Bell:
“Congratulations to Niamh and Zoe on your selection to the Scotland team.
I can remember Niamh being this very quiet 10 year old girl when I started coaching her and could hardly get a word out of her. She has got more confidence over the years. She would always ask if we could do some extra training, after training if it was box kicking or working on her passing.
Zoe started as a young 12/13 year old girl. Zoe was also training with ADAC so we knew we had a fast girl on our team. Zoe first game was against Ayr in the U15 league and she scored 2 tries on her debut. After that game you could see Zoe was hungry to learn more of me and Billy and would ask where she could do improve and was like a sponge and just take everything in.
You were both a joy to coach – as well as the rest of the Hornets.
Congratulations once again on your selection and enjoy the experience”
Girls coach Billy Henderson:
“I would like to wish both girls the best of luck on their Scotland journey.
They have been a joy to work with and always put the effort in.
Past 2 seasons it has been rare to have them both in the same team, but when they are watch out opposition.
Annan in the past few seasons have been fortunate to have a few girls selected for Scotland.
These internationals when training at Annan have shared some of their learnings with the hornets and raised the skill level.
Both girls have had a few rugby disappointments on the way to Prague but both have got up, dusted themselves down , heads up and tried harder.
We are all so proud of them and hope they can inspire fellow players to follow their path.”
Well deserved Zoe and Niamh.
Enjoy the experience and let’s go Scotland!
