Match report and match photos now also online
The 2021/22 league season comes to a close on Saturday for the 1st XV as they host Kilmarnock in their last league match of the season.
Its been a mixed bag of a season for the 1st XV with some great performances and a few that the lads will want to forget!
On the plus side, 41 players have played for the 1st XV. Not great for continuity but great that a lot more players got to play at a 1st XV level and add that rugby experience.
Saturdays opponents Kilmarnock are 1 place and 10 points above Annan in the league but a win for Annan would give them a played 18, won 9, lost 9 season and a probably 5th place and top half finish.
The teams met earlier on in the season and Annan came away with a rare victory at Bellsland.
At Violetbank Annan have a great record versus Kilmarnock and have won 9 of the last 14 matchups with 1 draw. Kilmarnock did beat Annan though the last time the teams met at Violetbank back in 2019.
Should be a entertaining match with both teams no doubt throwing caution to the win to play some great running rugby. If it now ends 6-3, I apologise in advance!
Match kicks off at 3pm.
Also Danny Bell will hopefully be completing his sponsored walk from Dumfries Rugby Club to Violetbank just before kick off. Good luck Danny as he raises funds for Papyrus.
1st XV starting XV: R Glass, K Warrick, N Graham, M Thompson, F Hope, W Gray, H Houldey, O Ferdinand, A Carmichael, J Bigham, B Conroy, S Haren (VC), A Jancey (C), E Haley, J Kirby
1st XV subs: A Craik, M Forbes, C Smith, E Campbell.
