THIS WEEKEND AT ANNAN RUGBY

FOR FRIDAY 12TH, SATURDAY 13TH & SUNDAY 14TH NOVEMBER 2021

BUSY WEEKEND FOR ANNAN RUGBY

Last weekend was a successful weekend of rugby for the teams with the Hornets, 1st XV and U18 boys all winning.

This weekend a couple more teams are in action

On Friday evening, the U14-U18 Girls are off to Dumfries for a Girls Rugby Festival. 7pm start,

On Saturday the 2nd XV host Langholm KO 11.45am and the the Scotland v South Africa match is on at 17 Bank Street. KO 1pm.

On Sunday its very busy with the P1-P7 Tigers hosting Biggar and Stewartry. 10.30am start.

The U14 and U16 boys are on the road to Moffat (U14) and Stewartry (U16) while the Warriors are away to Howe Quins. All 2pm kick offs.

And finally some of our U18 Girls are joining up with Biggar Girls travelling to take on Penrith Girls

U14-U18 GIRLS OFF TO DUMFRIES ON FRIDAY EVENING

STOP PRESS: Alas festival has been cancelled.

The always busy U14-U18 Girls are in action on Friday as they travel through to near neighbours Dumfries to take part in a Girls rugby festival.

The Girls did really well last week at Stewartry and will be wanting to continue their fine winning form and great rugby

Start time 7pm (TBC) but will be a great evening rugby showcasing Girls Rugby teams from around the region.

If you are free on Friday evening, why not pop along and support the mighty Hornets.

2ND XV HOST LANGHOLM ON SATURDAY

STOP PRESS: Match ended in a 12-12 draw. Annan points from a Elliot Haley try and a James Kirby try and conversion

The 2nd XV have a friendly match on Saturday as they entertain Langholm 2nd XV.

This was a match that used to occur on a regular basis back in the day but Langholm had been struggling with player numbers in recent years so its great to see Langholm putting out 2 teams again

The 2nd XV have been having a mixed season, but at home they have not been beaten for quite a while. 7 games I believe.

Kick off on Saturday is now 11.45am.

A big loud Annan support would be most appreciated as always.

17 Bank Street will also be open for the Scotland match at 1pm.

Starting XV: TBA

Subs: TBA

WARRIORS ON THE ROAD ON SUNDAY

STOP PRESS: The 15 Warriors who made the trip go down 86-7 to Howe.

The Annan Warriors are travelling to Fife on Sunday as they take on Howe Quins in their latest National Division 1 match.

The teams met at Violetbank at the start of the season and it was a very close affair with 5 tries apiece. The difference in the end was the kicking of Howe as they won 32-27.

Howe has not been a happy hunting ground for the Warriors with just 1 win in the last 5 away meetings but the Warriors will no doubt be up to get that 2nd away win.

The National 1 league is really split into 2 mini leagues as the moment with Howe in the top half and the Warriors in the bottom. Howe still have an outside change of promotion but cant afford to lose any more matches while the Warriors need a few more wins to keep them safe from the relegation battle. Should be a cracking match.

Starting XV: TBA

Subs: TBA

YOUTH TEAMS IN ACTION ON SUNDAY

STOP PRESS: The U16 boys match was cancelled. The P1-P7 Tigers had a great home tournament while the U14 Boys had a great win 26-7 v Moffat. The U18 Girls are a TBC at the time of writing. Well played to all.

Busy Sunday as 6 youth squads are in action

Firstly the 3 P1-P7 Boys and Girls squads are at home hosting Biggar and Stewartry.

Parents and players to meet at 10am for the 10.30am start with a finish around 12pm

The players and spectators will be asked to mark remembrance Sunday with a silence at 11am

The U14 Boys are away to Moffat and the U16 Boys away to Stewartry in their latest Development League games.

Matches between the teams have always been high scoring affairs and Sunday will no doubt be similar.

Both matches kick off at 2pm

Finally some of our U18 Girls are teaming up with Biggar Girls as they cross the border to take on Penrith Girls. KO: TBC.

Best of luck to all the teams this weekend.
