LAST WEEKEND AT ANNAN RUGBY

FOR SATURDAY 16TH & SUNDAY 17TH OCTOBER 2021

QUIET WEEKEND FOR ANNAN RUGBY

The quietest weekend for Annan Rugby so far this season with just 2 teams in action on Saturday when the 1st and 2nd XV take to the rugby field.

Still busy with training during the week for all teams (bar the U14 boys) plus the P1-P7 Boys and Girls have rugby camps on Wednesday and Thursday .

Still time to book a spot – see https://annanrugby.com/2021/09/09/p1-p7-october-rugby-camps/ for more details.

STOP PRESS: The Warriors now have a match on Sunday v Wigtownshire Ladies. 1pm KO at Violetbank – which they won 64-40. Well played Warriors

1ST XV AWAY TO KILMARNOCK

STOP PRESS: The 1st XV win 41-17 – their first win away to Kilmarnock in 10 attempts since their last away win at Bellsland in 2006. Well played lads

Match report – now online

After last Saturdays loss to league leaders Garnock, the 1st XV have another tough match away to 4th placed Kilmarnock.

Bellsland has never been a happy hunting ground for the Annan lads with just 2 wins in the 14 trips. The last being back in 2006!

The matches though are usually very tight. The average score over the last 5 matches has been Kilmarnock 23 v Annan 16.

At home Annan have a much better record with 10 wins and a draw from 15 matches – so home advantage is usually crucial in this fixture it seems!

Annan will be wanting to get their season back on track and keep up the pressure on the top 3 teams, especially when their next match after is a home derby match versus Stewartry who currently sit in 3rd spot.

A large travelling support would be most welcome to help spur the lads on.

Kick off: 3pm

Starting XV: R Glass K Warrick, A Craik, F Hope, D Robson, L Goldie, C Bell, S Haren (Vice Captain), A Carmichael, J Bigham, J Whiteside, A Halliday, R Hetherington, E Halley, A Jancey (Captain)

Subs: E Campbell, E Le Vin, D Smith

2ND XV HOST CUMNOCK

STOP PRESS: The 2nd XV get a great result with a 48-14 win.

First home game in 2 years and after a few months of tough matches v various 2nd XV teams….. the boys dun good!

Cheers to Cumnock for travelling today and making it a great game and tops to see two proper 2nd XV teams taking to the pitch.

No current 1st XV players playing in this encounter!

Full match report with photos and highlights – now online

The 2nd XV will hopefully have their first home match of the season when they host Cumnock 2nd XV on Saturday.

Its been a tough start for the 2nd XV with big defeats on the road but it would be nice for the 2nd XV to just get a home match.

Their last 5 matches have been away, with their last match at Violetbank being back in December 2019! Getting teams willing to travel to Violetbank is very rare these days.

Saturdays opponents Cumnock have unfortunately been struggling for players this season with their last match at home cancelled due to lack of players. It is hoped they will get the numbers for Saturday.

The match is the second of 4 matches in the league this month, so if you are available to play in any of the matches, please contact Captain Ben

Good luck to the team.

Kick off: 3pm
