1st XV v Stewartry

First though, hope you all had a great Christmas and will have a great New Year.

Many many thanks to all the players, coaches, referees, parents, staff, volunteers, supporters and anyone I have missed who all make Annan Rugby the great club it is today. Here’s to an even better 2020!

#MonTheAnnan

And also a reminder that the club will be open on Wednesday 1st January from 2pm to 9pm. So why not pop in for some banter, buffet, quiet disco and the odd shandy!

All welcome.

1ST XV IN CHISHOLM CUP/WEST 1 DOUBLE HEADER

On Saturday, the Annan 1st XV are travelling to the Greenlaw to take on Stewartry 1st XV in a Chisholm Cup/West 1 match.

The teams met earlier in the season in Shield and League/Chisholm Cup 1st leg matches, with Stewartry coming out on top on both occasions.

The Annan 1st XV’s form has been mixed so far this season. Over the last 5 matches the Annan 1st XV have won 2, drawn 1 and lost 2. As a result the lads have moved away from the potential relegation spots but they will still need a few more wins in the remaining 7 league fixtures to hopefully secure West 1 rugby next season.

Stewartry 1st XV however are still hanging on in the race for the West 1 Championship but they can not afford to drop any more points in their remaining 8 matches if they want to be top of West 1 come the end of the season.

So on Saturday, to win the league match the black and amber just need, of course, a 1 point win but to retain the Chisholm Cup Annan need a 7 point win.

For the record, Annan hold a 10-7 lead in Chisholm Cup wins and have held the Cup since September 2015 and will not be wanting to relinquish it just yet.

Since the turn of the century the teams have met at the Greenlaw on 14 occasions, Annan winning 9 times and Stewartry 5. Average score: Stewartry 15 v Annan 18

Should be a cracking match at the Greenlaw.

1st XV players to meet Bank Street at 11.30am for the 2pm kick off.

1st XV Starting Lineup: N Graham, K Warrick, R Hetherington, N Coupland, M Thompson, D Nordon, C Bell, T Sloan, A Jancey (capt), J Bigham, J Kirby, S Haren, H Houldey, J Park, J Whiteside

1st XV Substitutes: J Crombie, C Smith, M Crombie, A Carmichael
