DERBY MATCH FOR THE 1ST XV

On Saturday, the Annan 1st XV are travelling to the Greenlaw to take on Stewartry 1st XV in a Chisholm Cup/West 1 match.

The teams met earlier in the season in Shield and League/Chisholm Cup 1st leg matches, with Stewartry coming out on top on both occasions.

The Annan 1st XV will be going into the match on the back of two great wins and will be hoping to take that form into the match on Saturday.

To win the match the black and amber just need, of course, a 1 point win. To retain the Chisholm Cup Annan need an 8 point win.

For the record, Annan hold a 10-7 lead in Chisholm Cup wins and have held the Cup since September 2015 and will not be wanting to relinquish it just yet.

Since the turn of the century the teams have met at the Greenlaw on 14 occasions, Annan winning 9 times and Stewartry 5. Average score: Stewartry 15 v Annan 18

Should be a cracking match at the Greenlaw.

1st XV players to meet Bank Street at 11.15am for the 2pm kick off.

1st XV Starting Lineup: R Glass, K Warrick, R Hetherington, T Sloan, M Thompson, B Thomson, C Bell, S Haren, A Jancey, J Bigham, J Kirby, H Houdley, D Wyllie, L Johnstone, J Whiteside

1st XV Substitutes: N Coupland, D Nordon, J Park.

2ND XV ON THE ROAD TO DALZIEL

STOP PRESS: The 2nd XV will now take on Stewartry 2nd XV at the Greenlaw as the pitch at Dalziel is frozen (match to be rearranged). Players to meet at Bank Street at 11.15am. Transport: Bus. #DerbyDays

The Annan 2nd XV start a run of 3 big matches on Saturday that could determine if Annan 2nd XV will be challenging for the league title come 2020.

On Saturday they travel to Glasgow to take in Dalziel 3rd XV. The teams met earlier in the season and Annan ran out 68-12 winners but Dalziel on their day, especially at home, are a match for anyone in this league.

Then after this match, Annan 2nd XV then have 2 huge home matches on the 7th and 14th December versus 1st placed Marr and then 2nd placed Carrick respectively.

The Annan 2nd XV will need to win 3 from 3 to keep up their title ambitions going into the last 5 matches in 2020. A hard ask but one the Annan 2nd XV will definitely be up for.

As always the mighty Twos are always on the lookout for new and available players for Saturday. Drop 2nd XV Team manager Gavin Lynch a message or on 07554 494262

WARRIORS PLAY THEIR LAST LEAGUE GAME OF THE SEASON

On Sunday, the Annan Warriors are off to the Capital when then take on Broughton Ladies in the last match of the Tennent’s National 1 season.

It’s been a mixed season for the Warriors but they will be aiming to finish the year on a high with a win over the Edinburgh team.

The teams met earlier in the season when the match ended in a draw. The teams have only met once in Edinburgh and that was back in November 2017 when Broughton Ladies won 36-19, so the Warriors will be wanting to get a tick in the away win column.

The Warriors will then be taking a break before the new cup season starts early next year.
