SATURDAY UPDATE: THE 1ST XV LOSE / 2ND XV GAME OFF…AGAIN!

Alas for the 4th time out of 5 home league matches, the 2nd XV game was OFF as the opposition could not raise a team to travel to Violetbank. Attempts to get a replacement opposition were not successful. A team in the league will come down to Violetbank one day!

And the 1st XV went down to Kilmarnock

To keep things short – the 1st XV go down 26 v 15 to promotion chasing Kilmarnock.

1st XV in action

Lurch with the take

Annan led for most of the first half thanks to a James Bigham penalty on the 10th minute but 2 quick tries on the 34th and 36th minutes meant Killie went in ahead at half time 12-3

Second half and the start was all Annan and the lads retook the lead when first, Michael Thompson scored. Then not long after Sean Haren crossed the whitewash. The try was converted by the Bigham and it was 15-12 to Annan……for about 60 seconds.

Kilmarnock quickly scored a converted try and it was 19-15 to Kilmarnock with about 25 mins to go.

Could Annan get the win?

If you read the title or first paragraph then I guess you know…

No.

As Annan were pushing for the winning try, Kilmarnock broke away and scored. It ended 26-15

Unlucky lads!

The black and amber now have a home game next week versus Strathendrick. 2pm kick off.

Big match!

SUNDAY UPDATE: MIXED FORTUNES FOR THE TEAMS

The Warriors took on promotion chasing Garioch Ladies at Inverurie this afternoon.

It was scoreless at half time after some great defence from both teams.

In the 2nd half, Garioch scored early to make it 5-0. It was soon 10-0 but with about 20 to go, Vice Captain and try scoring award winner extraordinaire Chelsea Barnes popped up and it was 10-5.

It looked like it was going to end 10-5 but with about 10 minutes to go, the Warriors drew level thanks to a Jennifer McGregor try. 10-10

Alas Garioch were to score next 17-10 close to full time and that’s how it ended.

A losing bonus point though for the Warriors in a game they could easily just have won.

Unlucky Warriors.

The Warriors now have a home match next week v league leaders Heriot Blues Ladies!
