WORLD CUP FINAL ON IN THE CLUBHOUSE

Why not watch the final at the Clubhouse at 17 Bank Street on Saturday

Doors open at 8.30am for the 9am KO. Bar will be open from 8.45am.

The odd shandy pre 9am is acceptable once every 4 years!

Plus free bacon and sausage rolls and tea and coffee will be provided.

Come watch it amongst friends.

2ND XV TAKE CENTRE STAGE ON SATURDAY

With the Annan 1st XV taking a break this Saturday, the 2nd XV take centre stage as they host Edinburgh Northern 2nd XV at Violetbank.

The 2nd XV’s match last weekend was postponed as the opposition could not raise enough players to travel to Annan. Something that has happened a few times already this season, which left 22 Annan players itching to play some rugby.

Luckily on Saturday, Edinburgh Northern are a team that love to play rugby and travel even the massive 90 miles to Violetbank for a friendly!

Should be a great day of Rugby with the World Cup final on at 17 Bank Street and then the 2nd XV up at Violetbank.

Kick off is currently scheduled to be 3pm but may change. Keep an eye online for closer to the date.

WARRIORS HOST GLASGOW UNI LADIES ON SUNDAY

The Annan Warriors host Glasgow Uni Ladies on Sunday at Violetbank. The Warriors are looking to go one better than last week when they drew with Howe Harlequins.

Bottom spot (and potential relegation) in National 1 can now only be filled by Glasgow Uni (2 points), Oban Lorne (9 points) and the Warriors (14 points)

A win on Sunday would end any relegation worries and a 5th place or even top half finish could still be a possibility. But the Glasgow Uni Ladies will be fighting as always to pick up their first win of the season.

After Sundays match the Warriors remaining fixtures are away to league leaders Garioch, home to 2nd place Heriot Ladies, away to Oban Lorne Ladies and then away to Broughton Ladies. So all tough matches but as always the Warriors will be aiming to win 4 from 4.

Also, for the record, if Vice Captain Chelsea Barnes takes to the field on Sunday, it will be Chelsea’s 50th competitive appearance (League/Cup) for the Warriors since Chelsea’s debut in the Warriors first match v Greenock Ladies back in September 2015.

Chelsea has played 40 league matches, 9 Cup matches and scored 16 tries (4th top try scorer for the Warriors). Congratulations Chelsea, here’s to another 50 at least!

Warriors to meet at Violetbank at 12.30pm for the 2pm kick off.

Annan Warriors Starting XV from: Ashley Clark, M Alexander, J Dalgliesh, R Peacock, M Muir, N Barnes, L Glendinning, K Warrick, A McWilliam, L Moffat, E Jardine, N Barlow(c), A Cook, J Stewart, C Barnes, C O’Connell, K Barlow, K Taylor, J McGregor, M Ker.

HORNETS AND TIGERS IN ACTION ON SUNDAY

On Sunday 5 Youth squads are in action.

The 3 Hornets squads are off to Cumnock Rugby for the latest SRU Girls Rugby Festival. The Hornets had a great weekend last weekend at Biggar and Netherhall and will be looking to continue that winning rugby feeling on Sunday

U14 Hornets KO: 10am to 11-30am. U16 & U18 Hornets KO: 12pm to 1.30pm

Players to meet as arranged with the coaches.

And 2 Tigers teams will also be in action in Galant Conference matches.

At Violetbank, the U14 Tigers host local friends and rivals Stewartry. The match should be a cracker based on past matches. KO: 11am

While on the road the U16 Tigers travel to Kilmarnock. The U16 Tigers will be hoping to get back to winning ways after a couple of defeats. It will be a tough old match at Kilmarnock Rugby though as it always is. KO: 2pm

Players to meet as arranged with the coaches.

Best of luck to all the teams this weekend.
