ANNAN MEN ON THE ROAD TO STRATHAVEN

Stop Press: Alas Annan go down 26-6

The Annan Men are off to Strathaven Rugby on Saturday for a pre-season squad match with the West 2 club.

This is the penultimate pre-season game, with the 1st XV hosting Wigton on the 24th August before the season starts in earnest on the 31st August when the 1st XV take on Kilmarnock at Violetbank. The 2nd XV also host Kilmarnock in a friendly on the same day.

Players to meet as arranged with Head Coach Neil Moffat for the 3pm KO.

ANNAN WARRIORS LEAGUE SEASON BEGINS

Stop Press: Game postponed. Pitches unplayable.

A few more weeks of pre-season would have been nice as the slightly injury hit Annan Warriors travel to Broughton Ladies on Sunday for the start of their league campaign in National 1.

This is the 3rd time the teams have met. Both have one home win each. The last time the Warriors travelled to Edinburgh to face Broughton was almost 2 years ago. Broughton ran out 36-19 winners. The Warriors won the home leg 48-14

The match at Violetbank was 16 months ago so it will be interesting to see how both teams have changed since the original meetings.

A small squad of 16 Warriors will travel without Captain Nicole Barlow on Sunday and a couple of the named players are still carrying injuries but will hopefully pass fitness tests at Thursdays training session.

Vice-Captain/Captain for the day Chelsea Barnes makes her debut in the backs after 42 matches in the forwards and Megan Muir makes her Warriors competitive league debut for the Warriors.

Players to meet at Bank Street at 10am for the 2pm kick off.

Warriors Squad: 1 E Jardine, 2 M Alexander, 3 J Dalgliesh, 4 M Muir, 5 Abbie Clark, 6 N Barnes, 7 L Glendinning, 8 K Warrick, 9 A McWilliam, 10 M McGeoch, 11 M Ker, 12 C Barnes (c) 13 E Henderson, 14 K Barlow, 15 K Taylor, 16 J Park

U16 TIGERS TRAVEL TO STEWARTRY

Stop Press: Tigers get a great win 38-25 – Lovely!

Last, but by no means least, the U16 Tigers are on the road on Sunday as they travel to local friends and rivals Stewartry for a friendly match.

The U16 Tigers are getting ready for the league season that starts on the 1st September at Violetbank v Cambuslang.

Players to meet as arranged with the coaches for the 1pm KO.

Best of luck to all the teams this weekend.
