The Warriors took the long trip to Oban this afternoon for their 2nd of 10 West 1 matches this season. 18 Warriors landed early and were ready to go into battle with the local lassies.

Always a tough ground, and today was no exception

There were many changes from normal playing positions, which, when added to a couple of head knocks and one arm injury, made for a difficult day.

The match kicked off, and Oban quickly ran in 4 unanswered tries as the Warriors struggled with the speed of the home side’s play.

After 20mins it was 26-0, and the game was basically over but with 60 mins to go the Warriors knew they had to dig deep and try to take some positives from the match.

To cut a long story short Oban, who were well organised and released a couple of flyers at regular intervals, ran in 28 more unanswered points in the 1st half and a further 45 in the second. 99-0 being the final score.

Positive points were earned by Annan’s attitude and willingness to keep going for what must’ve been a long 80 mins.

For the Warriors, time to put this match behind them – every player has a game like this  – a week to regroup, train hard and get ready to welcome Hillhead Jordanhill 2nd XV next Sunday to Violetbank.

For the record, there were Warriors debuts for Pagan Mitchell and Kelcie Smith – congrats – a bit of a baptism of fire! But it will get better from here!
