On Wednesday evening, Violetbank played host to a rare fixture in recent week, welcoming Dumfries P7s for an U13 transition game.
The game was played in 3 twenty minute spells allowing some much needed rest with it being the majority of the players first full pitch game.
The opening 10 minutes was well matched with both sides keen to get ‘stuck in’, but it was Dumfries who were first to get on the score sheet.
The 2nd third saw the away team stretch to a comfortable lead.
However the Annan lads showed strong character by coming out fighting in the final third clawing some scores back.
Both sides tried to play expansive open rugby and put in brave defensive performances.
All the home players battled for the duration but unfortunately it was Dumfries came out on top.
It was a great advocate for youth rugby in D&G.
