PERTHSHIRE LADIES v ANNAN WARRIORS.

NATIONAL PLATE
23RD FEBRUARY 2025

Match Report from: COLIN WARRICK

The Warriors hit the road for the final time in the group stages of the National Player to visit Perthshire Ladies. On arrival the rain finally stopped but wind continued to blow making conditions less from ideal.

The Warriors knew that a good start & performance was going to be needed to clinch a semi final berth with one game to go.

And start well they did when straight from the kick off Captain for the day Mally McGeoch fielded the ball stepped the 1st defender and raced clear scoring within 30 seconds of the game starting, this was swiftly followed with tries from Rhianna Parker-Clevett, Steph McCracken & 1st in Warriors colours for Julie Warrick.

With a bonus point secured within 12 minutes the Warriors kicked on to score a further 4 tries from Katie Morrison, Jane Haren, Niamh Ross & Mally McGeoch with her 2nd, also adding 2 conversions.

Half time score: Perthshire Ladies 0 v Annan Warriors 44

Playing with the wind on their backs the Warriors kicked off having made a number of changes and went on the attack once more.

The tries continued to come with scores from Kayleigh Warrick, Acacia Clash with her 1st Warriors try, Kirsty Barlow, Lexie Glendinning, Steph McCracken with her 2nd of the day, with Mally McGeoch adding a further 5 conversions.

Final score: Perthshire Ladies 0 v Annan Warriors 79

Another big win & big performance from the Warriors which barring a massive defeat in the last game secures a semi final spot.

Once again some great rugby on show especially with conditions being very testing.

Best in defence were Kayleigh Warrick, Megan Cother, Joanne Clark with Shield of match going to Lexie Glendinning.

In attack Mally McGeoch, Hannah Paterson & Rhianna Parker-Clevett stood out with Sword of match going to Ellie Smith who played her 1st game in potentially new position of wing forward.

The Warriors now have 3 weeks off before facing Lismore at Violetbank on 16th March where they hope to maintain their unbeaten home record.

Big shout out to mascot Elijah and three brave supporters who made the trip.
