OBAN LORNE v ANNAN 1ST XV

WEST REGION DIVISION 1
28TH OCTOBER 2023

Match Report from: GUS ROBERTSON

The 1st XV travelled the long distance to Oban for their latest West 1 match on Saturday.

To keep things short, it was disappointing performance from the team who went behind after only 10 minutes and thereafter the hosts scored at regular intervals for the rest of the game.

The only highlights were a try from Captain Warrick close to half time and then by Adam Torbett near the end of the match.

It ended 50-10 to Oban.

The 1st XV’s first ever defeat to the highland club and it propelled Annan to the bottom of the West 1 league.

There are still 10 matches to play and with the exception of Ardrossan, none of the other teams in the league look like they have their act together yet and so plenty of potential matches for Annan to get themselves off the bottom of the table

This starts with two crucial home match over the next 2 weekends. First up is Strathaven on Saturday and then Kilmarnock the following Saturday.

Coach Juan will no doubt be targeting these matches as at home Annan are usually a lot tougher to beat and both Strathaven and Kilmarnock are teams Annan can certainly beat. Kilmarnock have been already in the 1st match of the season.

For the record, Standoff Josh Whiteside played his 100th match for the 1st XV on Saturday. Top effort Josh.

This Saturday’s match kicks off at the ear;iert time of 2pm
