MATCH REPORT FROM COACH BILLY HENDERSON

On Sunday 24th September twelve Annan U16 Hornets travelled across to Newton Stewart to play a match. Moffat and Wigtownshire also travelled across.

Newton and ‘Shire combined with the addition of 2 girls from Moffat. 3 Moffat girls joined us.

We warmed up well and practiced a few penalty moves.

Game Time – the weather was torrential for the 1 hour duration of the match.

We were good in spells, however I was disappointed in our defence. We weren’t pushing up on the opposition enough and leaving the too much space to exploit. We will address this in future training and games.

My game notes are unreadable due to the rain but Marnie put in some thumping tackles. Rhianna from Moffat got 3 great tries on the wing.

Thanks to all the parents/carers for transporting the girls across, Newton for the hospitality, Cammy Little for reffing and fellow coaches for giving up their time.

Looking forwards to the next joined up session with all these girls. Newton, ‘Shire and Moffat were quite impressive.

Also Shire/Newton/Stewartry/Annan U18 girls had a joint training session in preparation for a home game at Annan v Penrith on Sunday, 1pm KO.

Come and support these young ladies in their rugby.

They have not had much meaningful game time in a while, so we are joining up to give them better opportunities at full match conditions. Other games are in the pipeline. Cheer them on and keep them enthusiastic.
