GALLOWAY 2ND XV v ANNAN 2ND XV

WEST RESERVE DIVISION 2
18TH NOVEMBER 2023

Match Report from: STEVE JANCEY

On a blustery, wind and rain swept afternoon the Annan 2nd team went to the Greenlaw to play Galloway.

The match was hotly contested and indeed for the first 30 min there was no score such was the intensity of the tackling from both teams .

Finally the ball found its way to the Galloway winger who scampered over for a try The conversion was missed and the score at half time was 5-0 to the home side.

With injuries to props Sean Armstrong and Ben Sweeney, coach John Carlyle rearranged the team and went uncontested Scrums.

Shortly after the restart Scrum half Ryan Armstrong went over the whitewash unconverted. Score 5 points each.

The match continued with both teams creating good opportunities. Only to be let down at the vital moment by poor handling and stray passes.

There was some fine kicking skills by fly half Lex Stevenson and also Frazer Hope who seemed to be enjoying his time in the backs. The team got into the red Zone time and again creating lots of opportunities but a bit more composure is needed.

Galloway scored two more tries one of which was converted to give a final score of Galloway 17-5 Annan. Many thanks to all the lads who made the Journey.
