DUMFRIES v ANNAN 2ND XV

Carlisle were unable to fulfill the return fixture at Annan and so alternative arrangements were made and Annan 2nd team travelled to Dumfries on Saturday 22nd March.

Unfortunately it was a bit one-sided as a Dumfries 2nd team bolstered by 3 south sea islanders from the Island of Nauru proved too strong for Annan.

Annans only score in the first half was scored by Hayden Hodgson. After a good solo run and shrugging off several would be tacklers. Converted by Stevenson to give a half time score of Dumfries 31 Annan 7.

In the second half the Annan side did manage to put Dumfries under spells of pressure and were rewarded by 2 tries from Keith Hogg converted by  Aaron “Shandy” Kirkup.

There were pleasing performances from youngsters Kellum Smith who played a full game at prop and Wallace Alexander who even tried his hand playing fly half.

Also putting in good shifts were Alex Jones, John Glendinning, David Wyllie, Ben Conroy and Pack leader Callum Smith .

Final Score: Dumfries 71 Annan 21.
