DUMFRIES U16 GIRLS V ANNAN U16 GIRLS
U16 GIRLS NATIONAL LEAGUE
22ND SEPTEMBER 2024
REPORT FROM COACH BILLY HENDERSON
Last Sunday the U16 Girls visited Park farm and came away with a satisfying victory over Dumfries 24-61.
Scorers on the Day:
Tries from – Marnie, Megan, Lexie, Alahna and Anna
Conversions from: Ayda and Anna
For the game we moved a few players about. Josie to 2nd row, Megan to standoff and Anna to standoff when we do a long ball over the back of the line out.
We weren’t quite as sharp as I was hoping we would be. Dumfries played far better than they did when I saw them last.
Once again our new younger members are shining at this level. Lexie scored the best try of the day – in and out up the wings – and again voted MOM by both teams.
Captain Shaenah had a solid performance and when the ref, after warning us the next high tackle is going off for 10 minutes, blew her whistle for a high tackle but didnt know who did it, gets innocent Shaenah and says “You choose someone to go off” – Captain Shaenah picked herself. What a team player!
The Girls now take on Biggar Black U16 Girls on Sunday. The Biggar Girls are also undefeated at the top of the group and will be a step up in the quality of opposition the girls have faced so far this season but as always the Hornets will be up for it, 2pm KO up at Violetbank.
