On Saturday 18th January the Annan second team travelled to Cumnock for their last league fixture this season.

An Annan win coupled with Ardrossan losing and Annan would be crowned Champions of West Reserve Division 2 (South). Cumnock needed to win to keep their Championship ambitions alive.

The match was played on astro turf and conditions were ideal for running rugby.

In a fiercely contested match there were tries by Alex Jones, Adam Torbett (2) and Adam Dickson. Stevenson notched 3 of the conversions.

Cumnock also scored 2 tries and a conversion making the score at half time Cumnock 12 v Annan 26.

The second half continued in the same competitive manner.

The Annan try scorers were Lex Stevenson, John Glendinning and Andrew Jancey. Adam Torbett taking over kicking duties after Stevenson was injured adding two more conversions.

Cumnock scored another 2 tries and a conversion to make the final score Cumnock 24 Annan 45.

And in a shock, Ardrossan did indeed lose to bottom placed Carrick and as a result, Annan were Champions of West Reserve Division 2 (South)! Well played lads.

The Annan second teams next fixture is a friendly away to Ambleside RFC on the 8th February.
