Match Report from: COLIN WARRICK

The Warriors headed north to visit Bishopton Ladies for a top of the table clash.

With only 16 available for various reasons it was sure to test the squad.

Once the game got going it was clear there wasnt much between the teams, with both defences on top for the majority of the half.

It took until 30mins for the opening score when from a close range penalty the hosts opted for posts n dually converted. Fairly soon afterwards the extended their lead with a try from close range.

Almost straight from the resumption Annan upped the gears carrying hard into the opposition territory with number 8 Kayleigh & prop Megan making good yards, before the ball was moved wide for Ashley Clark to burst two tackles and carry a third would be tackler over the line to score.

The game resumed with the Warriors keen to maintain the momentum but try as they might couldnt convert pressure into more points.

The hosts further extended their lead when back to back penalties allowed entry into the Annan red zone, where once again they scored from close range.

As the game entered the final minutes the Warriors pushed hard for a 2nd score which would have given them a deserved losing bonus point, however from a loose pass the ball was turned over  & the strong running full back burst through to break the final tackle to score under the posts..

Final score: Bishopton 22 v Annan Warriors 5

Although the result is disappointing the Warriors gave their all, having to defend for long periods of the game due to a strong hosts defence and the Warriors inability to hold onto the ball for that extra phase.

In attack Kayleigh Warrick, Niamh Ross & Mally McGeoch went well with Sword of the match going to Megan Cother.

In defence Lexie Glendinning on her return from injury & the previously mentioned Kayleigh Warrick tackled well with Shield of the match going to full back Jane Haren.

So onto next week with another away trip this time to Hamilton Ladies, with more work to be done to tighten up on the details of the Warriors game.
