BIGGAR LADIES v ANNAN WARRIORS.

WEST REGION DIVISION 1
3RD SEPTEMBER 2023

Match Report from: Colin “Choc” Warrick

The Warriors hit the road again to play Biggar Ladies for their 3rd game of season.

With the sun beating down the warm conditions were sure to be a test for both teams.

The Warriors started well carrying hard from the kick off & stringing phases together, however from a ruck Biggar managed to steal the ball move it wide for their pacy backs to score their opening score, this followed by a swift 2nd allowing them to increase their early lead.

Although the Warriors heads didn’t drop they struggled to cope with pace of the home team, who scored a further 3 tries.

Half time score: Biggar Ladies 27 v Annan Warriors 0

After making a couple of changes the Warriors went into 2nd half determined to up their performance & get a score on the board whilst trying to put a halt to the free flowing nature of the hosts game.

A couple of defensive lapses seen the Warriors ship scores at regular intervals whilst still working hard in attack to no avail.

As the half went on the Warriors started to gain more ground with big carries from Nicole Mullen, Tammy Allinson & Ashley Clark taking them into the home 22.

It was from here that Annan scored their only try of the game when Kayleigh Warrick surged forward only to be halted close to the line before Captain Ashley Clark burst over close to the ruck to score to score a deserved team score.

As the Warriors tired Biggar scored a final 2 tries to complete the scoring.

Final score: Biggar Ladies 70 v Annan Warriors 5

Although the score may not suggest this was an improved performance from the Warriors who looked dangerous in attack when able to string phases together. Defence is still a big work on which am sure will get better as we go on.

Best for Annan were Kayleigh Warrick, Rhianna Parker – Clevett & Captain Ashley Clark with Sword of the day going to Nicole Mullen.

In the backs Amber Pattullo, Niamh Ross played well with Shield of the day going to Lexie Glendinning
