ANNAN U16 GIRLS V CAMBUSLANG U16 GIRLS

U16 GIRLS NATIONAL LEAGUE
27TH OCTOBER 2024

REPORT FROM COACH BILLY HENDERSON

We started off a bit slow and allowed Cambuslang 3 tries before we replied. Cambuslang kept in front for much of the match until the last quarter when we would take the lead. However we made a few mistakes which allowed Cambuslang to retake the lead again. But we battled back to secure a 50-50 draw.

A few of our mistakes which allowed Cambuslang to score easy tries were disappointing, however the best learning in life is through making mistakes.

Positives on the day:

Our scrum was once again dominant and pushed Cambuslang off lots of balls. Curiously both scrum halves put the ball in from the opposition side. Our line outs were good with variety of attacking moves.

Om my touchline in the 2nd half, Lexie took a tackle from Cambuslang and a heavy counter ruck in the midriff from Marnie. Lexie was in a bit of discomfort for the rest of the game but carried on admiralty.

Alahna was voted player of the match by both teams.

Pictured is Captain Shaenah putting herself in harm’s way!

Just lately we have had 2 new girls join us, we welcome them,

One is a complete novice who we are introducing to rugby slowly. Not ready for a game yet but improving markedly at training.

The other is a vastly experiences player who will add character and a bit of spice to the team,

November and December we start this years Cup Competition. All important games. If we can make fewer mistakes, play aggressively and confident rugby we hopefully can progress through the rounds

Well done to all the Hornets.
