ANNAN U14 GIRLS AT MOFFAT RAMS

FRIENDLIES
16TH APRIL 2023

MATCH REPORT FROM JAMES CABLE

On Sunday 14th April the U14 Hornets travelled to Holm Park to play in a festival.

The Girls played 12 a side, full pitch, with two 15 min halves of play.

Our first game was against a combined Moffat/Stewartry/Wigtownshire team.

The Hornets were the dominant side from the start and within minutes of kickoff scored their first try, through good hands and lightning pace from Alahna and Yvie.

This was to set the tone for the first half, the Hornets scored 5 tries to MSWs 1.

In the second half the story was the same, the Hornets played their socks off and through a combination of individual and team performances scored another 6 tries with MSWs only replying with 1.

Final score: MSW 2 tries Annan 11

Tries: Yvie, Anna 3, Eva 3, Shaenah, Louisa 2, Josie

With Player of the match: Anna Canning

The second game to Dumfries got off to a very different start with Dumfries taking an early lead but this was to be short lived as the Hornets replied with 5 tries before halftime. The second half was very similar to the first with Dumfries scoring early on and then Annan replying with a further 6 tries. Dumfries scored another try late on but the Hornets won convincingly.

Final score: Annan 11 Dumfries 4

Tries; Yvie 2, Ayda 2, Shaenah 3, Maddy, Anna, Louisa

With Player of the match: Josie Halliday

The Hornets played really well, the passing was precise and moves were well executed but what really got them the results was they played as a team, this allowed them to create space and capitalise on it.

There’s still lots of room for improvement but the girls showed what great potential these girls have as a team!
