REPORT FROM TM TERRI GRAHAM
Annan U14 Hornets were invited along to Scotstoun yesterday to play a festival and watch the Glasgow V Edinburgh game.
7 of our girls made the journey straight after school on the last day of term before the Christmas holidays.
We were paired up with Garioch U14 girls and both teams became fast friends as a very competent mixed team.
The first of the 3 X 12 minute games was against Alloa and ended with our girls 9-2 up.
The second game against Perthshire saw Annan/Garioch up 11-6.
The third game was the only game our team lost of the night with Stewartry winning 8-5.
The teams then made their way over to the main pitch to act as a Guard of Honour for Glasgow and Edinburgh, the girls created a great atmosphere and were looking forward to getting onto that pitch at half time, despite the lashing rain.
We were drawn against Stewartry and the girls were determined to not let them win again and came out on top with a close score of 3-2, Annan’s Alahna scoring that winning try.
Post match, our girls were able to meet some of the players from both teams and get some autographs, photos and bragging rights for winning the half time game!
Our U14’s team is a very young team, we have 2 of our most experienced U14 players, Alahna and Ayda, who always take our newer and younger girls under their wing and keep them right.
They both make their mark on every pitch we play on. One of our newest Hornets, Holly, played her first ever game, what a debut at Scotstoun!
Taylor, Chloe and Kate, 3 of our youngest Hornets got stuck right into the action with good tackles and offloads.
Sophie powers through the opposition with very strong carry’s and good hands for offloads, she doesn’t make it easy for the opposition to stop her.
Keep up the hard work girls, you’re an incredible wee team!
Thank you to Colin “Choc” Warrick, Andrew “AJ” Jancey and Darren “Del” Irving for coaching the girls last night.
We wish all of our players and their families a very Merry Christmas
