FRIENDLY
23RD SEPTEMBER 2023

Match Report from: STEVE JANCEY

Despite many last minute call offs Annan eventually managed to gather a squad of 18 for a friendly fixture against Kelso Sharks.

Kelso scored first after an Annan mistake led to an easy try. Annan fought back with a penalty by Finley McCartney but were eventually trailing 26-3 at half time.

The second half was as fierce as the first and eventually Annan wing forward Murdo Bruton went over for a try. Converted by Jordan Paterson to make the full time score – Annan 10 Kelso Sharks 57.

This was a hard fought encounter with father and son Tam and Max Thorburn playing well together 42 years after Tam had first encountered Kelso in 1980. Well played to all concerned.

Pick of the forwards (Capt ) Keiran Watret,John Mackay,Tam Thorburn,Thomas Martindale and Kyle Bell.
