ANNAN 2ND XV v GREENOCK WANDERERS

On Saturday 17th February the Annan 2nd team played a home league match against Greenock Wanderers. The match was played down at the Everholm because Violetbank was waterlogged.

Annan were sluggish in the first half and spent most of the time defending. However there was some good ball carrying and some determined tackling. Stuart Wylie, Josh Cairns, Captain Kyle McRoberts and fullback Lex Stevenson all stood out

At half time the score was 17-0 in the visitors favour.

Coach Onny Carlyle made some changes and Annan began to string some good phases of play together. Creating more and more opportunities.

After a prolonged period of pressure scrum half Simon Dix scampered over for a well deserved try.

Final score: Greenock 29 v Annan 5.

All of Annan’s young guns, Ross Barlow, Wallace Alexander, Aaron Kirkup ,Euan Watson, Keiran Johnston and Robert MacGregor stepped up and performed well

This squad has a lot of potential and will benefit from training and playing together.

Annan next league match is 2nd March at home to Kilmarnock.
