ANNAN 2ND XV v AMBLESIDE CENTURIONS
FRIENDLY
30TH MARCH 2025
Match Report from: STEVE JANCEY
On Saturday 29th March the Annan 2nd team hosted Ambleside RFC. The weather was atrocious with heavy winds and rain throughout the match.
Ambleside had arrived with 11 players and Annan levelled the teams up. So that a 15 a side game could be had. Annan were also pleased to welcome Ben Stewart who was playing his first senior match.
It was Ambleside who scored first when Scott Muir (playing for Ambleside) crashed over in the corner. With the strong winds the conversion was missed. Annan hit back when Keith Hogg touched down, after a kick and chase. Converted by Vice Captain Lex Stevenson.
Half time score: Annan 7 Ambleside 5.
The second half saw a change of personnel. With players swapping sides and shirts .Ambleside managed to score 2 more tries, one converted and a rare drop goal to make the final score: Annan 7 Ambleside 20.
Many thanks to Ambleside for making the journey and joining in the afternoon match entertainment, held in the Robertson Lounge.
Many thanks to all who have played, cooked, driven, refereed, taken photos or in anyway helped during my last two years as 2nd team manager. It’s been great fun.
I am stepping down to join the groundsmen team. I will be heard shouting “Get off my lovely white lines “in the near future. 🙂.
