Annan Rugby Club welcomed Dalkeith RFC to a very arid Violetbank for a pre-season friendly. The East Region Division 2 side came down to Annan as part of their league warm-up programme.

For Annan, it was our first 15-a-side outing as previous games were cancelled.

Dalkeith started with some spirited play, but an intercepted try for Aaron Carmichael stopped them in their tracks. The tries kept coming for Annan for the rest of the game and a difference of 9 tries to 1 at the end was a fair reflection of the game.

Annan having a full squad against 16 visitors was to take a toll on the tired legs, and expert management by head coach Adam Hamilton gave his players valuable game time as well as utilising subs to great effect.

Lots of positives from the game and some tough selections to be made for our first league game this Saturday. A good day at the office for all at ARFC and with players returning for the coming weeks it is an exciting time for the Violetbank faithful.
