ANNAN 2ND XV v DUMFRIES 2nd XV
WEST RESERVE 1 / AA MACPHERSON MEMORIAL TROPHY
22ND NOVEMBER 2025
Match Report
The day started with a touch of drama. The pitch marked out for the occasion had flooded overnight. So Captain Simon Dix and Team Manager Steve Jancey marked out the Everholm for the local Derby which was for bragging rights, league points and the first leg of the revived AA MacPherson Memorial Trophy, played in the memory of Alex “Mac” MacPherson.
The Annan team were pleased to welcome just turned 18 Oban Nicolson for his first senior match and lso new prop Grant Wilson into the squad. It was also great to have old heads Alan Rae, Dinger Bell , Stewart Wyllie and Thomas Martindale. (Adding about 200 yrs to the teams average age)😊
All played well in what was a hard tackling, bone crunching, teeth rattling local Derby.

In the first half Dumfries ran in 4 good tries to Annan’s one. Which was scored by Andy Mcgreevy after some fine handling by Annan’s backs.
The second half was just as fiercely contested, with Dumfries outscoring Annan by 3 tries to one. Annans try was scored by Dinger Bell who crashed over after a long period pressure created by the Annan forwards relentless pick and drive. Andrew Jancey slotted the conversation.

Final score Annan 12 Dumfries 46.
Many thanks to Dumfries for making the journey and all who played.
Next Saturday Annan are again at home to Whitecraigs in the league.
