RUGBY MATCHES

SCOTLAND MATCH ON IN RUGBY CLUB

On Sunday the Scotland v Italy match will be on at the rugby club. Door open at 1.10pm for the 1.40pm KO

1ST AND 2ND 2XV’S AT VIOLETBANK

Both the 1st XV and 2nd XV are at home this week for their latest league matches.

For the 2nd XV its a derby match against local neighbours Dumfries. The 2nd XV have not played since the 11th October as call offs and unavailability has meant the team has forfeited their past 2 matches.

With the 2nd XV now being docked points and getting close to being removed from the West 1 Reserve league for not fulfilling matches it is hoped this might focus the minds of the players and the remaining 10 matches will be played.

Will be a tough match against Dumfries but the 2nd XV squad will be up for it.

For the 1st XV they are taking on 2nd placed Strathendrick. The Fintry club are having a decent season but lost last week to Lenzie to lose ground on leaders Strathaven so will be wanting to get their season back on track as a loss on Saturday and they will be Strathaven to lose a few more matches if they want to be in top spot come season end

For Annan, after their great win last Saturday away to Cumnock, they will be wanting to put on another display of expansive running rugby to get themselves closer to the top half of the table.

Will be a tough ask against Strathendrick who comprehensively dismantled Annan at the start of the season but Annan have a decent record at home to Strathendrick with 4 wins from 5 so will be hoping to make it 5 wins come the final whistle in Saturday.

Both matches kick off at 2pm.

WARRIORS ON THE ROAD

The Warriors are on the road on Sunday as they travel to Irvine in their latest West 2 league match.

With 3 matches left, the Warriors will be wanting to end the West 2 league season on a high as they prepare for the National Plate competition that starts early next year.

Sundays opponents Irvine are lying in 2nd bottom place and not yet safe from relegation worries so will be targeting this match as a chance to pull away from the relegation spot.

For the Warriors they will be wanting to keep the momentum going with one eye on the following Sundays opponents, league leaders Oban who are coming down to Violetbank in a must win match for them.

2pm KO for Sundays match at Irvine
